Sunday Morning Saints Report - August 8, 2010
Great to have Dave back, isn't it? We subs and proxies did fine, but I have to admit there was a nice sense of comfort to see his byline at the top of the CSC page once again.
Not much happening for the Saints today, as the team has no practices scheduled and it is preparing for this week's travel to Washington DC, and the Land o' the Patriots for some inter-squad practices and of course, our preseason opener Thursday night.
What I have for you today are some more reports from yesterday's scrimmage, bonus coverage of Rickey Jackson's HOF Hooplah, and whatever else I came across this morning in my interweb wanderings for Saints news.

Grats to the Saints organization and fans for a well-deserved nod from Canton.
By all rights that entire LB corp could probably go in as a unit, but HOF induction is a tedious political process.
I stand corrected
Which surrogate are you?

Sean Payton and the players need to focus on the upcoming season and defending the title but I don’t.
Rickey's speech
I couldn’t participate in the open thread last night, so I was wondering if anyone else noticed that Mr. Benson looked kinda uncomfortable when Rickey was thanking him for keeping the Saints in New Orleans after Katrina. Isn’t it common knowledge that had Tom had his way back then the team would be in San Antonio? I always thought that was the case. Anyway, when Rickey was saying that, Tom seemed to be thinking, “Move along. Just move on to something else, Rickey. I don’t like this.”
My favorite part was when Rickey was talking about how he wanted his face to be up on his hometown billboard. That’s gotta be the only time Mel Tillis’s name has ever been mentioned in a sports award speech.
"As soon as Tony (Dungy) said we had no chance, I knew we had 'em right where we wanted 'em"--Coach Sean Payton right after Super Bowl XLIV with the Lombardi Trophy firmly in hand. WHO DAT!!

I thought he said Jennifer Tilly. In fact, I’m sure of it.
“Mumble mumble … hometown … mumble … vegetable and stuff … mumble mumble … Jennifer Tilly … mumble mumble mumble … get muh name on dat sign.”
