NFL Sunday Football: Open Thread

Cozy up in your favorite seat, grab your beverage of choice, make sure your fantasy rosters are set and join us here in CSC's open thread for all of today's NFL action.

I am assuming (read: hoping)  that Fox will be showing the Panthers/Bucs game here locally in New Orleans while some of you in other parts of the country may have a different game being broadcast. I know for a fact that we'll be getting the Miami/Minnesota game early and the Jets/Patriots game on CBS, as is most of the country. To find out which games - both early and late - you'll be forced to watch today on CBS in your neck of the woods, check out this handy-dandy map

Be sure to come back tonight at 8:15pm for another open thread as New Orleans favorite sons, Peyton and Eli Manning, square off against each other in the Manning Bowl.

Make the jump for a full list of today's games.

What about Titans vs Steelers

or Bengals vs Ravens or Jets vs Patriots? They seem like they could be better games than almost all the other games listed besides the Colts-Giants matchup. Just throwing it out that those are the ones I plan on trying to watch with maybe a little Miami vs Minn.
Hoping for some good games today

In Lafayette, we're getting Browns-Chiefs...

..better not be because of hometown hero Jake Delhomme, who’s out with an injury anyway.

Though, the Baton Rouge CBS affiliate is showing Fins-Vikes.

The FOX affiliate is showing ’Boys/Bears.

Bengals v Ravens

That’s definitely the game I’m most interested in watching. The Saints have to play both teams away later this year, and I want to see their strengths/weaknesses. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s airing here in NOLA. And oddly enough, we don’t get the TB/Carolina game here either. I think it’s the Dallas/Chicago game on Fox (Cowboys on FOX? wow what a surprise!).

I have the Sunday ticket,

so I can watch whatever game I want. But I don’t give a d*** about any of them. Bring on my Boys in Black and Gold. Will Monday night EVER get here?

“Who is going to account for Troy’s freelance blitzes”

4 WR sets and quick throws by THE most accurate passer in the game.

“how is Bushrod going to block Harrison”

Same Similar way to how he blocked Mullet Man (0 sacks, very little pressure).

“who is going to outrun Timmons”

Devery Henderson and/or Robert Meachem

“how confused will Bressus when LeBeau defense starts bringing blitzes from all over”

Maybe a little at first, but he’ll figure it out and find the open man… b/c there will be at least one open man

doesn't matter how good the Steelers defense is

Their offense can’t score TDs, and the Saints will score their points – they have scored at least 2 TDs (plus other points) in 40 of their last 42 games. One of the two they didn’t score that was the final game of the regular season last year in which most of the starters were resting for the playoffs. BTW, what were the Steelers doing during the playoffs last year?

by HB-NOLA on Sep 19, 2010 4:56 PM CDT up reply actions

Try Zach Strief reterning as an "elegible tackle/H-back" to help Bushrod out.

And also..as good as the Saints’ inside running game is with PT, there’s still Chris Ivory coming back from injury.

Oh…and did I mention that fella named Reggie Bush??

When I remember the draft time, that is.

Snap, place, kick! And it's good! It's good! It's goo-hoo-hood! Pigs have flown! Hell Has frozen over! The Saints are going to the Superbowl!

I was just thinking about that jon08ban

The week after we killed New England! We struggled against the skins, should have lost that game. Skins are tough, they just have a hard time closing the deal.

And this is the week after the texans beat the Colts.

Strange!

yeah,

Cromartie was money today on Moss. Interesting that the Jets switched up the coverage after Revis got burned.

And Brady was looking OFF...

Like they frustrated him enough that he started making bad throws…. not typical Tom Brady.

money and Pierre Thomas

Think about it – they would have had to give LT a lot of money while short changing PT. Probably would have caused some bad blood in the locker room.

I picked the Giants, but I don't feel terribly confident about it

Tough to pick the Colts to lose 2 in a row (how often has that happened?) and to lose at home to little bro. On the other hand, Sanders and Gonzalez are out, and Brackett, Mathis, Session, and Freeney are all listed as questionable. The only significant injuries for the Giants are Blackburn and Boss.

Thank you very much

I try my very best & if I went with who I really wanted to win I’d be up +2 over that. You notice I picked the underdog on the Manning bowl. Wishful thinking ;)
