My take is Hartley will not kick the next several games and use the down time to regroup while Carney handles the placekicking duties, beginning Sunday against the Carolina Panthers at the Superdome and, perhaps, again on Oct. 10 at the Arizona Cardinals.

Allee-Walsh is flirting with disaster
PAPER OR PLASTIC?
Midway through the third quarter of Sunday’s 27-24 loss to Atlanta in overtime, Saints defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis sacked Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan for a 4-yard loss.
Ellis promptly stood up and celebrated the occasion with a sack dance that he calls "The Pee Wee,’’ in honor of Pee-wee Herman, the comic fictional character created by American comedian Paul Reubens.
Why "The Pee-wee?’’
"It was unanimous with all the women that I know,’’ Ellis said. "They love when I do that sack dance, so I just figured I’ll make that my staple sack dance.
"I vary it every now and then, but for the most part that’s my thing. I’ve been doing it since my first year in the league, since my rookie year.’’
To which I replied, "No wonder I haven’t seen it before.’’
Ellis forced a laugh. Counting the one against Atlanta, he now has seven in two-plus seasons.
Looks like the big man didn’t care for that comment. I’d love to see a lot more of his sack dance. I hope he gets more of them this year. Where did we draft him in 2008? Was it the 6th overall pick? Maybe he’ll really start living up to that draft position this year. He ain’t exactly chopped liver, though. The run defense was noticeably worse when he was injured last season.
"As soon as Tony (Dungy) said we had no chance, I knew we had 'em right where we wanted 'em"--Coach Sean Payton right after Super Bowl XLIV with the Lombardi Trophy firmly in hand. WHO DAT!!

GAAAAA!!
Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.
He's Welsh. Like John Rhy-Davies.
But that doesn’t excuse this:
and use the down time to regroupWhat does THAT mean? Practice field goals until he hits 4 out of 5? How is that different from practice?
jeffduncantp . Uh, no. I'm a journalist. Are you just realizing that? @yelpinwienerdog: are you even a saints fan?
I had that same thought
Let him just mope around and think about it and wonder if he’ll still have a job in a few weeks?
Whatevs, B A-W. I think he was just speculating and pulling s*** out of his arse. Sadly, he gets paid for that and I do not.
It's gonna be a great year.
