It looks like the saints should've waited to draft a DT from LSU
Drake Nevis is looking like a BEAST in this UNC game

I counted the same
25 offense, 24 defense, 3 special teams

Hargrove is starting LDE?
Thats kinda surprising. Figured Brown would be the end while Hargrove was a DT.
Week 1 matchup: Vikings
Week 1 motto: Win Again
I dont think its depth chart just separated by position.
Even though I think Hargrove should be in the dt slot.
Injuries suck!!
This ISN"T a depth chart!!!!

I think Brown is the starting DE
Hargrove rotates between DT and DE. I think Wilkerson should be listed at DE too. So that pretty much makes it policy that Ellis and Ayodele are not allowed to take plays off…ever…for any reason.
"I want to hand this trophy to the MVP of the Super Bowl -- and the MVP of the entire league.''
-- Saints coach Sean Payton, handing the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Drew Brees after Super Bowl 44.
Wow think about it?
Colston, Henderson, Meachum and Arrington Split wide. Thats a serious deal for a defender to cover. Brees will have close to a 5k year.
Interior OL thin too!
Im thinking keeping 6 wr and 4 te not worth losing OL and DL depth.
Injuries suck!!
Tennant can play guard too.
In a pinch Strief can as well.
"I want to hand this trophy to the MVP of the Super Bowl -- and the MVP of the entire league.''
-- Saints coach Sean Payton, handing the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Drew Brees after Super Bowl 44.
I dont want coverage.
I want a real guard! Dont need a 5th WR or 4th TE who will only see the field because of injuries anyway!
Injuries suck!!
And by my count we could have held on to one more player!
Why would we not keep the extra guard or dt? If we sign someone else than cut him than!
Injuries suck!!
They have 53!

I'm back in NOLA this week, so how about we make it Big Buford's from Rally's...
…and we can get some of the best fries EVER!

Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.
They don't have either in Dallas (where I live)
so I have to stock up when I come to NOLA to visit the family.
Rally’s and Bud’s Broiler… which is what I had for brunch today. Yum!
Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.
Ohhhh Bud's Broiler burgers
I gotta add that to my list of meals to get while I’m in town this week! I’m gonna need to change my itinerary and stay longer just to get everything in that I want to do (and eat!)
"It's about time that something good like this happened." - Drew Brees
4th Meal!!!
It’s only 8:20pm, they should still be open….
Be sure to get a fried apple pie (which is rolled in sugar and cinnamon) when you go.
Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.
I wish...
I’ll be back in Dallas watching it on TV…
I thought about it, but tickets are crazy expensive to this one.

I’m just in town for a wedding and to visit with my family for the Holiday weekend. :-) In case you were curious.
Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.
You got that right about the ticket prices!
I managed to get mine early at a decent (but still fairly high) amount, and I’ve been watching because I was curious to see if any of the prices would drop but they haven’t budged!
"It's about time that something good like this happened." - Drew Brees
At least Humphrey can block on short yardage situations
What’s Adrian Arrington gonna do? Sit and wait for somebody to get hurt?

Im still mad about Casillas!
I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do with some real playing time! I cant believe he is on IR with a foot injury! A FOOT INJURY!? What in the hell happened?
Injuries suck!!
Just added him!
Now the roster is full could have cut him too for Pressley
What in the HELL just happened!?
Never heard of him
Maybe I should pay closer attention.

Came from St Louis after we cut Evans
Thats the extent of my knowledge on him
What in the HELL just happened!?
good special teamer
Nigerian, no one can pronounce his real name, hence K.C. I think he got involved in a shop lifting scam in college. Hopefully he can steal some balls for us.

7 Linebackers?
Really!? We going to the 3-4 and nobody told me? Linebackers aint worth crap without a DL.
What in the HELL just happened!?
Definite possibility
This roster looks a lot better if you assume we are running a 3-4
"I want to hand this trophy to the MVP of the Super Bowl -- and the MVP of the entire league.''

One Problem
None of our DTs could hold up at Nose none of them are built that way!
What in the HELL just happened!?
Remi Ayodele is the biggest tank they got. Hes the only one that fits that NT, IF they go 3-4, but Vilma HATES 3-4 from what I remember.
Yep Vilma does!
And right now I wouldnt want to get him ticked off. might tweak his groin!
What in the HELL just happened!?
No. Vilma DID. But part of it was he also clashed with Mangini. And I can’t exactly hold that against him.
He’s played 3-4 for us without complaint and done rather well at it.
It's all about freedom... GW gives them the freedom to be the best contributor that they can be, regardless of what name you give it.
Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.
Lmao.. We still look thin at OLB and our #2 MLB would be Marvin Mitchell or Stanley Arnoux..
Don’t even have a DT who could be big enough to be a NT.. God, why didn’t they throw more money at Jamal Williams when he was a UFA
The link for K.C. Asiodu takes you to Anthoney Waters page
I guess everybody really was surprised to see him make the team

I'm guessing Arrington is trade bait
Considering the lack of depth at certain positions that Payton has always kept deep, and the fact that he’s never carried 6 WRs, I’m guessing he and Loomis think they can get a decent trade for LB or DT for Adrian.
I can see that but I mean who? Who is going to let go a spot on LB right now. then we Got 8 LB for DT, Thats maybe more accetable.
that could be part of the trade... LB + WR for a better LB :-)
Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.
I hope thats what their trying to do.

To me, the question is...
Who is going to pay for Arrington when they can get Houshmandzadeh for free?

Yes. In spades.
In raw talent, Leinart is probably better. In but in four other areas, Chase blows him away:
1) heart
2) effort
3) humility
4) experience in the system
Yes, probably. He only started in college because his coach wasn’t sure who was better between him and Cassel. They practically flipped a coin and he got lucky and rode Reggie’s coattails to college-football fame. Cassel instead languished in obscurity until Tom Brady gets hurt and he gets his chance to prove Pete wrong. Which he did. In spades.
This is the NFL, not college. He probably still has more raw talent. But only probably. And right now, whatever talent he does have is completely worthless to us. He has no heart. He has no leadership ability. He has no humility. He has no drive, no willpower, no desire, and no experience in our system. At best he’s a 4th QB for us right now. At worst he’s not even worthy of signing at all. I’d be more comfortable with Lance Moore than Leinart behind center for us.
by FriarBob on Sep 5, 2010 1:08 AM CDT up reply actions 1 recs
Oh and he wants to start. Because right now he’s too stuck in entitlement mode to realize with his current degree of suckiness he almost isn’t even worth starting on a college team.
thanks for getting my back, Bob.
-
Leinart has proven that he sucks. There is no question about that.
Daniel hasn’t proven anything either way…. but there’s a chance he could be decent enough to carry a loaded team to an 11-5 record… like Cassell did a few years ago.
Leinart had virtually the same team that Warner took to the Super Bowl (including two, top 10 WR’s), and what did he do with it?
Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.
I thought he was going to the Wikes.

Only 2 guards??
Tennant can play Guard too, I hope… but it seems a little light. Maybe Wilkerson and Hargrove can play G in a pinch!
Yea I know
I’m not liking how this is looking so far.

but I will keep the faith and trust the Pay-Loo

as does the quality of the LB depth

and maybe it will all work out
and not all go to s%#@
I will keep thinking positively and keep focusing on what I want to happen
we will trade for an OLB, our role players will step up and perform well
everyone else will stay healthy
we will get the crucial turnovers when we need them
we shall overcome
It's gonna be a great year.
Tank Tyler was cut by the Panthers
Could be a good option for depth at DT

Never thought I'd say this!
But I cant wait for Ingram to get healthy!
What in the HELL just happened!?
My guess is...
Saints saw something they really liked in him and evaluated he’d be back on the field sooner then later.
They better be right….
Repeat? Under construction...
Greg Williams coached him before
He is here because Greg Williams wanted him.

Maybe they're gonna trade Moore and keep Arrington
Moore has proven his value as an NFL WR and could probably garner more attention on the market. Just saying…

Moore is more
Lance is a lot more polished that AA, and the best slot receiver the Saints have (except when Colston lines up in the slot). I’d hate to see them trade him. Arrington is good enough to be a #3 or #4 WR on most teams, and maybe even a #2 on a few teams. He has good trade value, and might not even need to be combined with a mid to late draft pick to get what they need.
Okay I understand how you guys feel.
However, Greg Defensive Mastermind Williams will not dissapoint us.
Remember a year ago when payton moved up in a draft and picked a kicker?
That was one of the best damn moves of that draft for the Saints.
We just won the Effing superbowl. We will beat the Vikings we will be NFC Champions.
The entire NFL season cannot be viewed through the looking glass on one specific moment in time but rather the collection of moments.
This is one moment in time and we have not even played our first game.

New Orleans Saints are still the undisputed WORLD CHAMPIONS!!
"I can eat oreos faster than him" Scott Fujita's take on Payton Manning SB44
well, right now Vilma's hurt
so we’re looking at Marvin Mitchell in the middle and Jo-Lonn on the outside?
It's gonna be a great year.
Depends on which defense they start with
4-3 it will probably be Dunbar, unless we pick someone up.

3-4 is looking like a better option
with the personnel they kept.
"Why do you even ponder passing? I mean, you can take a knee and try a 56 yard field goal! This is not Detroit man, this is the Superbowl!" -- Paul Allen's call after Tracy Porter intercepted Brett Favre in NFCCG
I think going to a 3-4 is a much bigger deal than just keeping a certain # of players at a position
It's gonna be a great year.
You are correct sir.
We don’t have the right makeup of personell to run a 3-4 full time…
If we can’t field 3 top level LB’s, and we’re complaining about our pass rush with four D-lineman, then fielding 1 probowl LB + 3 non-top level LB’s and only 3 lineman (not one of which commands a double-team) will not help our situation.
Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.
Well then lets pick up Demarcus Ware that will fix our pass rush.
(That is to Dan up one comment, for some reason I can’t reply to him.)

Really, being constantly surprised is a bad sign
Arrington could potentially do what Henderson does, and Devry is proven NFL value you could get a linebacker for. Throw in one of our LB and a draft pick or two and get somebody really good. Might not work out as well as you would hope, but there are no garaunteed solutions. The wide receiver they cut looks pretty good to me, and he is unlikely to be picked up elsewhere as an unknown. Or trade Moore, Bush can do quite well in the slot. It should be interesting to see what they really do, after all our brillaint suggestions.

Looks like Arnoux
might be getting the nod over Dunbar to start on the weakside. That would be a pleasant scene to me especially considering how unimpressively Dunbar played in the preseason.
wait
you dont remember that one time where Dunbar did that one thing?
