Objection to rotoworld opinion (Jenkins stays at corner) after Sharper's signing for 2010

Depends on Sharper making the team.  I agree that Jenkins moves to S as soon as Sharper is off the roster.  He's on PUP for 6 weeks.  Week 7 resolves this:  Cut, benched, or starting at FS.

I stand by my statement. Know what the difference between Jay Cutler and Kurt Warner is? Warner was better at reading defenses, and was smarter with the football than Cutler is. Cutler is risky, but he rarely gets rewarded for that. Warner played smart football.

"Here's the funny thing. Last night, I couldn't sleep too well. I called my dad (Bill) at 2:15 in the morning, and told him I had a feeling I was going to hit the game-winner from 42 yards on the right hash. I think I was two yards off."- Garrett Hartley

all true

And you didn’t mention the pass blocking. Warner had some pretty terrible years too, when he had little protection.

Regarding Malcolm Jenkins

Don’t remember the day, don’t remember the state of mind. Can only assume the “big if” concept was meant to be irony (“yeah, like that’s a big if”) that didn’t make the team. Otherwise, I must have been on meth. Or something. I hope I enjoyed it.

It was worth the wait.

Still can't believe the Jenkins thing isn't resolved.

Rotoworld said on May 3rd that he would remain at corner and I said “not so fast” because I believed he could still be moved to safety despite Sharper being resigned. He’s clearly a FS now. I may have guesstimated wrong about J. Brown, but not about this. I feel like I’m in a Twilight Zone episode. :)

by jeremysherwin on Sep 5, 2010 6:21 PM CDT up reply actions

Satch, you're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas... you've just crossed over...

It all hinged on Sharper’s health. If he was healthy for game 1, Jenkins would be a nickel back. No way would Jenkins start at FS and a healthy Sharper would be backing him up on the bench.

Guess we'll never know...

Oh wait, we just might comes Week 6.

by FrenchFreak on Sep 6, 2010 2:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Never said he would beat out a healthy Sharper for the FS job

My point was he could still get moved to FS this year, learn from Sharper and back him up, and then eventually take over the job. Even if Sharper were healthy throughout camp, I think they still would have started grooming him to play at FS. Here’s where we discussed this. My “Not so fast, Rotoworld” comment is below:

to Rotoworld: not so fast

I think they could still move Jenkins to FS, since they drafted P-Rob, who seems most suited for CB. Jenkins will be a back-up this year at either position. Why not let him learn from Sharper while he can? Most of the NFL world seems to think he’d be a great free safety as opposed to being a mediocre to good CB.

by David “Satch” Kelly on May 3, 2010 3:09 PM MDT

Where do I say Jenkins will start at FS this year? I don’t see it. I was just disagreeing with Rotoworld that Jenkins would stay at CB this year. Satch 1, Rotoworld 0. I still love the Roto, BTW. And, I still love me some stujo even though we seem to be remembering May 3rd a little differently. I call for an appeal to the ruling. :)

Before mid-season, he will be the starting WLB.

by GSO Saints Fan on Sep 6, 2010 6:41 AM CDT up reply actions

Unfortunately for you, at this point there’s actually a fairly good chance that might come true. He probably won’t bite. You’ll have to give him something that A) you “know” is more likely than it sounds because B) it’s against “conventional wisdom”.

Of course, then you could end up being wrong. But if you really want on the list, that’s the way to go.

by FriarBob on Sep 6, 2010 8:42 AM CDT up reply actions

I don't have a problem with Arnoux

rotoworld.com:

Stanley Arnoux-LB- Saints Sep. 5 – 11:09 am et According to Brad Biggs of the National Football Post, Saints LB Stanley Arnoux is an “ideal fit at weak side.” With WLB Jonathan Casillas placed on injured reserve Saturday, the defending champions need Arnoux to play a predominant role on the defense. If the team chooses to keep Scott Shanle on the strong side, Arnoux and Jo-Lunn Dunbar will compete for playing time on the weak side.

If you want to get on the list, tell me how Houshmandzadeh is going to light up the Saints on Dec 19. Something like that. Or go on about how the Canfield deal was a mistake, he’ll be starting for the Wikings in 2011. You know, like Deucifer does.

by stujo4 on Sep 6, 2010 12:59 PM CDT up reply actions

Houshmandzadeh will light up the Saints

He’ll be so effective that Payton will decide he must have this player, and will trade Colston and Bush for him. We’ll scream bloody murder, and then Payton will look like a genius when Houshmandzadeh wins three consecutive Super Bowl MVP awards. He’ll retire a Saint, enter the Hall of Fame with Drew, and be so popular that he’ll be elected mayor of New Orleans. Later, he’ll enter into a conspiracy with the Mexicans and Chinese to secede from the US and set up an independent nation in the Mississippi valley, extending from the delta all the way to St. Louis. After a bitterly contested war, President Sheryl Crow will sign an armistice granting independence to the Republic of Housh. The official religion will be Islam, and all those under 16 years old will now be 16 years old.

I’m sorry, that’s the best I can do.

I didn’t make it before when I was all against Ramsey, but I was right, he didn’t make the team. All I did was complain about picking him up. I guess I would have made the ACC index if I had said he is a washed up QB that no one has a real interest in and the only reason why PayLoo picked him up was to light a fire under Chase’s butt. He’s gonna be gone by the time the 53 man roster is out. I think that might have put me on the index, but alas and alack, never made it…
