Patriots kicking tires on the PT Cruiser?
The Boston Herald calls impending free agent Pierre Thomas "a possibility" for the Patriots to sign this offseason. Thomas' market value went in the tank due to chronic left ankle problems in 2011, but the Pats could view him as a bounce-back candidate at age 26. His versatility is certainly attractive. The Saints are believed to want Thomas back in 2011, but won't break the bank for the former undrafted free agent.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
They’re talking Nicks too:
Potential fill-in: If no contract is reached, the Patriots may look where they found Mankins — in the draft. If they turn to free agency, New Orleans’ Carl Nicks is one who could fit.
I hope we keep both PT and Nicks. Nicks is probably very high on Mickey’s priority list, so I doubt they’ll let him get away. PT is probably 50/50 for staying with us. There was talk that he may have been in the doghouse, but maybe PT is kinda fed up with Payton. He probably resents not getting a bigger contract offer last year (he did hold out for a time in training camp) and the Patriots would seem like a very appealing place to go for him.

If PT is dissatisfied with the Saints
…he’ll find, once he gets to New England, that he’s landed in another place that treats its players ruthlessly. If you’re not named Tom Brady, you’re replaceable. You may be a good fit this year, but if someone better comes available next year it’s “thanks, sorry, so long.”
That said, I don’t see PT not fitting brilliantly into New England’s scheme. The same way he fit brilliantly into ours. Payton and Loomis will commit a major faux pas if they let him walk. Just pay the man, Mickey.
It was worth the wait.

I was with you until here. There are many, many backs that would fit brilliantly in both team’s schemes. If they wind up cutting Woodhead or Green-Ellis, I think either could come here and we wouldn’t miss a beat. Basically, I think it’s foolish for New England to even pursue him, assuming top dollars are involved.

I bet we keep Nicks and let PT go, which I am dissapointed about

You say you lost your faith, but that’s not where it’s at
You had no faith to lose, and you know it
My thought/hope
Is that they watch film and observe how effective the screen plays were with PT and how much they digressed with out him. I would be a sad bear if they let him go. Especially to the Patriots. Blech.

But IMO this is just a journalist speculating….. collective chill out pleaseeeee
Bring the metal....
I wonder if they'd be willing to trade
Law Firm and Logan Mankins for PT and Carl Nicks. I’d buy that for a dollar.
