Pick em league Super Bowl Week

Welcome to the final week of the 2010 NFL season. We have also arrived at our last pick em week. After the championship weekend, only two people remain to try to claim the almighty Pick em league champ award. Which is a hardy congrats, and the knowledge that you are better than everyone else. Time for the last few awards, there won't be but a few since there were only 3 people left to award.

The "Brees to Colston" award for awesomeness will be given to...Ponysaints! Pony and alcoholic_insight both won 1 point, so I had to give it to the person who won with the bigger underdog. Since Green Bay was only favored by 3.5 instead of 4, Pony will gallop away with the award.

The "Shovel pass for INT" will be shoveled to Friarbob. Friar has been this year's Jets, he had a bad stretch toward the end and was able to squeak by in some rounds, but he took the Jets and will leave with 3rd place under his belt.

*Note: Thanks again to Friar for helping me out during the first playoff week.

No one will win the "Pierre screen for a TD" or the "Sean Payton Challenge of the obvious" since no underdogs were chosen.

Congrats to the final two pickers, scout carefully, and good luck!

*Note2: Only one person can have a team. If person A picks the Packers, then person B automatically takes the Steelers. No ifs, ands, or buts.

*Note3: After the Super Bowl is over, I will post a results post. This is also important because that post will also be open to ideas to better improve the Pick em league for next year. So if you have an idea that you think will improve the game, come back after the Super Bowl and let us know.

The lowest point getter in the Wildcard round. If a tie exists, the picker who picked the bigger favorite will be eliminated. (If 2 people lose the person who picks the -2 favorite will be eliminated while the picker who took a 4 point underdog will not) If a loser still cannot be determined, then the person who had the lower seed will be eliminated.-Top 5 Advance

The 2 lowest point getters in the Divisonal Round. If ties exist the pickers who picked the bigger favorite will be eliminated.-Top 3 Advance

The lowest point getter in the Championship round. If a tie exists, the picker who picked the bigger favorite will be eliminated.-Top 2 Advance

The loser during the Superbowl round will be eliminated. If both pickers lose, the picker who garnered the most points during the first 3 rounds will be the winner.-Revision: Cannot both pick same team.

  • This is not an elimination league. So, if you guess wrong you are still in the game, however depending on who you pick you may lose points.
  • You can go here for odds and the game matchups to see which team you will select for this week (Thursday's game is fine if you get it in before 7:00). When you click on the link, go to point spreads, I will use sportsbook. It seems to be consistent with the rest. And if the odds change, you can pick a new team if you want to, or just wait until Thursday or Saturday. To pick a new team, just reply to your old comment so I know you are changing. You can only change your team once, if you change it more than that I will not accept it. Just make sure to get in the pick on time.
  • A team above -8 will be worth 1 point if they win, and if they lose 1 point will be deducted.
  • A team between -8 and -2.5 will be worth 1 point if they win, and if they lose, 1/2 point will be deducted.
  • A team between -2 and +2 will be worth 1 point if they win.
  • A team between +2.5 and 8 will be worth 1.5 points if they win.
  • A team above +8 will be worth 2 points if they win.
  • If your team dominates (More than 16 points) then you will win an extra 1/2 point to your total that week.
  • Picks must be in at Sunday of the week in question by 12:00 in order to count.
  • You can join in after it starts, just know that you will be behind.
  • Winner will be calculated at the end of the season. Hopefully, we will be able to continue into the postseason with a more limited field among the winners.
  • For an example, Seattle @ Saints. Saints are 12 point favorites, if you pick the Saints and they win you will get a point. If they lose, you lose 1 point instead. This creates a bit more strategy/dumb luck with your picks, since you can have a bad week and come back great the next week.
