I have lost faith in Greg Williams. I really haven't ever agreed with his play calling since he was first hired. Yeah, it worked out in 2009, but 09 seems like a long time ago. I bought into his blitz happy scheme in 09 because it was actually producing results but he refuses to change his scheme even though it hasn't worked since then. We cannot pressure the QB but he continues to blitz as much as possible and we get burned every week. I don't know if he isn't disguising it well enough or what but it gets picked up every time. We really don't even have the talent in the LB corp to be running this scheme to begin with. But he continues to dial it up play after play. I want to get pressure on the QB, we need to get pressure on the QB, but I think it is time to shift to more coverage and let the D-Line try to get some coverage sacks because this obviously isn't working and something has to change. Plus, when we do focus on coverage on a play, the DB's are lined up entirely too far from the WR's. It is way too soft and I don't understand why we refuse to get physical with receivers coming off the line. Our defense is laughable. I honestly want to just go outside and smoke a cigarette when we are on defense. Since GW is too stubborn to change his ways, I want Loomis to start interviewing for a new DC in the offseason. I've been telling myself since last year that GW will get this or that fixed but he hasn't and I don't see any sign that he will. Hell, I don't see any sign of improvement at all since the Seattle playoff loss. We have talent on the defensive side of the ball at every position besides the linebackers, I just don't think we are utilizing them properly. Maybe I am overreacting but I really don't think so. We are approaching the midseason mark and I don't see any light at the end of the defensive tunnel.
