Saints placed OT Charles Brown (hip flexor) on injured reserve, ending his season.
It's a tough blow for Brown, who shined as the Saints' fill-in starter at right tackle with Zach Strief nursing an injury of his own. Coach Sean Payton revealed that Brown injured his hip flexor and will require surgery. He's been injury prone through two seasons, but should maintain a roster spot in 2012.

Saints signed OT Ray Willis, formerly of the Dolphins.

Willis, 29, was a fourth-round pick in the 2005 draft. The Florida State alum will provide right tackle depth with Charles Brown going on injured reserve.

And the hits keep coming. Let's hope Strief gets to 100% in a hurry.

Well as per Rotoworld:
Saints coach Sean Payton confirmed Wednesday that RT Zach Strief (knee) will resume starting in Week 9.
Strief’s healthy return from a right MCL sprain comes in a timely manner for New Orleans, which lost Charles Brown to a season-ending hip injury in Week 8. Strief has made 10 career starts. Signed to a new three-year contract in the offseason, he has been tabbed as Jon Stinchcomb’s long-term successor.

Shined?? He couldn’t shine my shoes!

Well of course not…he has a hip flexor that requires surgery. The last thing he should be doing is bending down to shine your shoes….for shame.

nice

I just realized my comment might be construed as racist – I certainly didn’t intend it that way. I was thinking in more of a Goodfellas kind of way.

actually, now that I think about it

That’s a fairly racist line in Goodfella’s too. I should stop now before I dig this hole any deeper.

With the exception of the Rams game,...

I thought he did well. Maybe this injury is part of the reason he did so poorly against the Rams.

I hope Strief is ready. He can expect the Bucs to target him extensively this game as they try to duplicate what the Rams did in disrupting Brees.

He played decent

Not outstanding mind you, but decent, until last week. Then he was just outclassed in the first place, and let it get in his head, which just made it worse. If the play calling, had adjusted to the fact that he couldn’t handle it by himself, we would have still done alright. Examples, one help out with the blocking scheme with a RB or TE, and two, if the rush is breaking through on the right, then run outside to the left. Same thing basically, but in reverse when Bushrod was being manhandled.

Actually I would have said he played well against Houston, Jax, Carolina, and the Colts. He stunk against the Bumpkineers and the Rams.

But other than that, I more or less agree. I might give him “pretty good” instead of merely “decent”, but otherwise I agree.

i'm glad y'all don't have any kids playing..

it’d be like: “.. get up you wuss.. yo ass ain’t hurt..”
gee.. easy on the indiscriminated anger.. there, migos.. these guys work hard to get to play 16 little games..
in charlie-b’s case he was coming on.. just a bad game where even our pro-bowl guards got punked.. & you acting like he is worthless..?
it takes a while to learn the tackle spot.. his intangibles are very much there.. just a matter of a little more maturity & maybe some more bulk..
i believe he will be missed as the extra TE.. he showed better form than strief at that position..

I'm glad I don't have any kids, period

It was mostly just a joke. He did have a couple decent games, but at no point did he shine.

Remember when our O-line used to be the best in the NFL?

Yeah…that was awesome.

sorry to disappoint you, but I agree 100%

I’m ready to go on the List and say Charlie Brown is officially injury-prone and has no future with the Saints. If we keep him on the team, it’ll just be more of the same (plays 4 games, then injured, then out for the year) for 3 more years and then he’ll get released at the end of training camp 2014.

Save us all some heartache and cut bait…NOW. Or at least look to pickup Bruce Willis’ character from that movie.
