A further update on four special seasons

First off I didn't give Roman Harper the total credit he was due. He is on pace for 9.5 sacks, which would be an NFL record for sacks by a defensive back. His tackle total has gone down to a projected 108.

Jimmy Graham is on pace for 97 catches for 1392 yards, which would shatter Kellen Winslow, Sr. 1980 record of 1290 yards. Additionally his td projection has gone to 12, the record is 13 held by a couple of tight ends.

Darren Sproles rushing and kick off return production went up, while his punt return and receiving yards went down. He now projects to 585 yards rushing, 692 yards receiving, 1014 yards in kick off returns and 252 yards in punt returns. This gives him a total of 2543 yards, which would still top Lionel James's record for a running back of 2535 yards. His production however has dropped for three consecutive games.

Drew Brees did not look sharp last night. He missed on several passes at one point, going 1 - 7 in stretch. I seemed to lack a little touch last night. I know he had a great statistical game, but I will bet real money that he will like what he sees on tape. He has dropped 70.9 to 70.2 in passing percentage. Here are the projections  470 completions in 669 attempts for 5366 yards and 39 touchdowns. BTW, with his 4 tds last night he has had 7 consecutive seasons with 25 or more tds, which is second all time behind Manning at 13. Additionally he is now at 38 games in row with at least one td pass and at 31 games in row with at least 20 completions (this is an NFL record). He is also on pace to tying his own record of at least 20 completion in all 16 games in a season.

A few typos

Streak began under 31 Consecutive games with 20+ completions. D’oh.

I'm back to Jimmy Graham

Sorry about the typo in the poll, it is Jimmy not Jimmie. After what I saw last night, I’m expecting JIMMY to have 5 consecutive 100 yard receiving games with at least 7 tds in that span. The remaining teams are teams that are not great at defending tight ends and unless you have someone that can cover him with some height and one-on-one, then he is going to beat you. I could see him with the records for yards, receptions and tds.

Anyone know where Brady sits on the consecutive TD record?

I bring this up because Brady and Brees were the only two players to throw a TD pass in all 16 games last year. Also Brady has thrown a TD pass in every game this year, which should put him at a minimum of 27 TD passes.

Frankly I’m a bit surprised he hasn’t gotten attention for this considering where he plays and all.

Brady hasn't gotten much attention because Brees has a longer streak

You are correct that he has a 27-game streak and has the second longest active streak.

27 Consecutive Games with a Touchdown Pass
Player: Tom Brady
Streak Began: Sunday, September 12, 2010 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Completions-Attempts: 601-913
Completion Percentage: 65.8
Passing Yards: 7,527
TD-INT: 64-14
Rating: 108.3

This is insanely productive. The Patriots have gone 22-5 during this streak.

Ahh, see I wasn’t aware it was only 27 games…I just knew that was the minimum. If and when he breaks 30…it’ll start getting talked about and deservedly so. I honestly don’t care too much if Brees breaks the record…his accomplishment speaks for itself. I just hope he gets to 40. Pass happy league now or not…that record has stood for half a century for a reason. Bad weather…getting knocked out of a game early due to a concussion etc, etc. Anything can derail it. A truly mind-boggling feat.

I'd like to see Brees break the record

Obviously, passing Unitas would be a big deal. It would be difficult to not include Brees in the discussion of great quarterbacks in the modern era. Still, Brady’s streak does deserve mention.

Since Spygate

The Patriots have yet to win a playoff game. They cheated their way to three Super Bowls before they were found out. Now, they have trouble winning big games.

There's still no proof that they cheated

More like there's no visibilitiy.

I never heard exactly what they did and why it violated NFL rules. I just find it difficult to believe they would have taken the fines and penalty without a lot more squawking unless there was some merit to the NFL’s case.

The Video Guy Confessed

What more evidence do you want? BTW, in his confession he admitted to taping the Rams practice for the Super Bowl.

I had not heard that. Thanks.

I’m afraid the left coast isn’t heavy on New England coverage.

I ran the numbers

I did a computer sim projecting Jimmy Grahams numbers for the next five games, based on what they gave up to opposing te versus the game average for those players.
Detroit 9 – 121 – 1; Titans 7 – 100 – 1; Vikes 6 – 111 – 2; Falcons 8 – 127 – 1; Carolina 9 – 147 – 2, which totals 39 receptions for 600 yards and 7 tds. This projects to 106 catches for 1587 and 15 td, which are all records.

I hope you're wrong.

My hope is for Pittsburgh and the Rams at home to knock off the 49’ers and the Saints to win out so we can get the two seed. Now, if that were to happen the Saints could not sit out the last game.

I voted for Graham because for him to have this awesome of a season with so little football background is phenominal. IMHO
