Saints 21 @ Vikings 13: Second Half Open Thread

Well, it is quite a tight game there in the Metrodome as the Saints are giving it their all to keep the spirited Vikings at bay, 21-13.

The Saints have lost two fumbles inside their own 30-yard line, but the "up for it" defense held the Vikings to a combined negative yardage total on both drives, and they had to settle for FGs.

The biggest trick play of the half saw Sean Payton dial up a surprise onsides kick after the Saints second TD, but first Courtney Roby, then Will Herring failed to corral the ball, and it went to the Vikings at their 40-yard line. An Adrian Peterson 39-yard run on 3rd and 1 set up the only Vikes TD of the game on that drive.

Drew Brees is lighting them up with 3 TD passes and a 149.1 passer rating. Darren Sproles, Lance Moore, and Jimmy Graham each have a TD and at least 3 catches. The Saints have run the 15 times for 62 yards.

Jared Allen has been pretty much neutralized, and Adrian Peterson has 51 yards on 6 carries.

Kudos to the defense for minimizing the damage from the turnovers so far.

The Vikings will receive the kickoff to start the third quarter, so we could use another quick defensive stop to get the ball back to Drew Breeeeeees!! and the boys.

Here are the first half stats on espn.com.

Jump on in for the second half excitement!!

Anything wrong with Aaron Rodgers???

He went 6/17 for 59 yards in the first half, and GB came out the second half with 4 running plays and punted.

How about this one? I’ve watched it three times. Amazing how his knees are holding up fine. Helps if you have some blocking, but that one was right up the middle.

What song is it you wanna hear?

by stujo4 on Dec 19, 2011 3:57 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah, I’m really surprised his body is holding up. He’s only 26 but for an rb that’s prime time. The good thing about being in NO is that he doesn’t have the mileage most lead backs would have at his age. He can play like this till he’s 30 probably. I’d like to see him win one as a star on a team just to balance the time he “wasted” here. Not saying he wasn’t an addition but I use to think Payton used him well just not enough, now looking at the film then and looking at how he’s used now, I can truly say he didn’t use him well except in the passing game and the last couple years, he phased him out of that.

You mean, the 18th ranked Atlanta rushing attack, the 32nd (last in league) ranked Giants attack..

and the 7th ranked 49ers rushing attack, which is only one spot ahead of the 8th ranked Saints rushing attack? And the Saints average 4.8 yards per carry, which is .6 ypc better than any of those three.

Man, check your facts before you speak, dude. You sound clueless. Or just plain stupid.

That was only in retaliation to you insulting me before I even said anything.

I had a good amount of respect for Saints fans from my time in their home stadium for the MNF game a couple of seasons ago where I was treated well. You are undoing that reputation with your crooked words and forked tongue.
