Drew Brees Breaks Dan Marino's Single-Season Passing Record
With an unprecedented five players currently at 4,500 total yards passing, record-setting rookie performances by Cam Newton and Andy Dalton, the MVP play of Aaron Rodgers and Tebowmania gripping the country, the 2011 NFL season will forever be known as The Year of the Quarterback.
But one quarterback stands above all the rest this season. One quarterback truly defines greatness. Our very own Drew Brees.
Congratulations to Drew, Mr. 5,000, for breaking Dan Marino's 27-year-old single-season passing yards record and for putting together another 5,000-yard season. No matter what the media, league or others might say, you'll always be our MVP.

Remember ESPN's documentaries earlier in the season with the theme "Year of the Quarterback"?
Brady 6, the draft prospect shows, etc. Interesting coincidence.
No matter what happens next week
He’ll be the ONLY QB to have passed for over 5000 yds TWICE!
Hmmm...
I probably shouldn’t come on this. ;-)

I tried to go over to the falcaholic and say congrats but alas, i have to wait til i pass the background check.

Colston’s amazing. always making tough grabs (over the middle especially), making a lot of jump ball catches on intermediate routes to keep the chains moving, and he has great chemistry with drew brees. at the same time, he is a little injury prone and i wouldn’t blame him if he wants to cash in if someone sees him as a top 5 reciever (hopefully in the afc).

OK let me get this straight...
Drew doesn’t have a contract for next year either… so he needs to negotiate his own contract, in which he will obviously be wanting as much money as he can get… but he needs to convince Colston to not do the same thing, so he can keep playing with him.
Hypocrisy much?
Now IF Drew/Condon and Loomis can figure out a way to actually negotiate a fair contract for Drew in time for the Saints to have the franchise tag available for Colston, I will be delighted. But I don’t expect that to happen. And it’s completely unfair to allow Drew to look for his best payday (which he DOES deserve) and simultaneously ask Colston to NOT look for his best payday (which he ALSO does deserve).
Chills down my spine, watching that locker room footage!
Expect more...you'll get more...and if you don't, start over!
got the chills when he broke the record

Congratulations Drew
Congratulations Saints. It was a serious team effort to get this far. Of course, the team has an amazing quarterback. We’re lucky to have Drew Brees.

Happy to see him in Gold and black again
He got his start as a Boilermaker, and you’ll find that most Purdue fans have been converted to Saints fans because of Drew. We were proud to send him tot he NFL and even prouder still to have him represent New Orleans so well.
It was an honor to give him his start.

What a night! What a QB! What a Team!
I spent 8 years trying to reach him...and then another 7 trying to keep him locked up because I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply...Evil.

Man that was awesome to watch
I was so proud along with the rest of the whodat nation. And the way it was done – on a touchdown pass against the Falcons on MNF!
Wish I could have been there to see it in person. So jealous of you guys that were!
Congrats, you guys.
I can’t think of a fanbase that karmically deserves this sort of thing more than you guys have.

The average team passes for 228 yards per game this year. In 1984, when Marino set the record, the average team passed for …228 yards/game
I don't suppose you would remember me, but I used to follow you back in '63.
Guess that just reinforces the idea that
THE SAINTS ARE NO AVERAGE TEAM
yeah baby yeah!!!!!!!

CSC fans and the posters here
Are partly responsible for the Saints success too, but we never get recognized so we will just have to be satisfied with our unknown soldier / unsung hero role in the established order of things……
Wonder if Brees will possibly get the next SI cover?
And then the Saints can blow up that cover jinx myth YET AGAIN…
