Mike Smith is too nice. I’d tell my players to hit Brees in the mouth.
That’s pretty much what you have to do when an opposing QB is killing you. It’s what Joe Montana recommended as a method to beat Tom Brady and Randy Moss in 2007. It’s what the Giants did to win that Superbowl.
Doesn’t keep Pete Frisco from being a DB, though.

good stuff – Matty just was on, and now Drew Breeeeees!! is giving his press conference
the timing of the ESPN bit I recorded is sweet beyond belief…it started recording at 11:00 pm EST, so it has the last 6 minutes of the game (and you know EXACTLY what that includes), and then it has the first 25 minutes of Sportscenter, which was all about the Saints win (and it has the great Payton/Brees locker room footage…). I may never delete this.

Pat Yasinskas’ QB Watch – NFC South Blog | ESPN.com
This will be this season’s final edition of QB Watch, a weekly project I’ve enjoyed tremendously this season.
Anybody else read this crap? Can you believe the moron saying that GB would be as bad as Indy was this year without Aaron? That’s insulting. Hell even Indy shouldn’t have been as bad as they were, and they were grossly mismanaged going into the season by Polian. GB wasn’t mismanaged to even one tenth of the same degree. But even then, if Indy could have just adjusted to the lack of Manning a bit faster, refused to give up after we shellacked them on SNF, or even just had a tiny bit of luck, even they could have gotten to 4 or 5 wins by now.
GB without Aaron would probably be somewhere between 7-9 and 10-6, still decent-to-good but not elite. Aaron IS an elite QB, anybody who thinks otherwise is probably just a bitter division rival refusing to be honest about reality. But without him they would adjust and be still at least decent. They have an aggressive defense with a near-ridiculous ability to practically will turnovers as needed for basically three years straight now. They’re good at scoring defense as well. They have a plethora of receiving talent too, and while it wouldn’t be enough to make Tebow elite, it would at least make Flynn look decent.
And because of that, the case for Aaron is NOT a landslide. He probably does deserve it at least a tiny bit more. But not a HUGE amount more, the way the voting will almost certainly make it appear. They really should be co-MVPs. And, unfortunately, they almost certainly won’t be.
Well, maybe if Drew can out-duel A-Rod in the NFC Championship game, then Peyton can hand the George Halas trophy to “the MVP of the league”, much like he did with the Lombardi in Miami. I suppose that would be a decent consolation prize.
Flynn is a good quarterback, and he would get better as the season went on. If Rodgers had gone down in preseason, the Lions would be division champs, and the Packers would be 6th seed. And get destroyed by the Saints in the first round.
And no: the Halas Trophy is NOT a decent consolation prize. Taking the Lombardi Trophy away from Green Bay is the consolation prize Drew wants.
"Mercedes Numbah One."

You misunderstood me.
Well, maybe if Drew can out-duel A-Rod in the NFC Championship game, then Peyton can hand the George Halas trophy to "the MVP of the league", much like he did with the Lombardi in Miami. I suppose that would be a decent consolation prize.
My phrasing was pretty precise, if perhaps slightly awkward. If we win the NFC championship game, we will get the Halas Trophy (and prevent GB from getting the Lombardi, regardless of whether we get it or not). But in the process we will (presumably) have to beat GB on their own turf. That means Drew will have to out-duel A-Rod. And that means the man who (presumably) will get snubbed for the MVP will have to play better than the official MVP.
And if all this comes true, then that will give Sean a chance to rub the AP voters noses in things again by calling Drew “the MVP of the league”, just like he did from the stage in Miami… after the man who got snubbed for the MVP out-dueled the official MVP.
And the “rubbing their noses in it” will be the consolation prize. But it will have nothing to do with the Halas (or Lombardi) trophy. It will have everything to do with rubbing the AP’s noses in their own mess… AGAIN.
