Four Special Seasons Down to Three
Roman Harper had another uninspiring week. He is down to 101 tackles and assists on his projections.
Darren Sproles also has drifted from his goal. He is down to a projection of 2540, which is down for a second week in a row.
Now, Jimmy Graham helped his cause he is now projecting to 100 catches and 1395 yards. He is still short by 2 on the record of 102 by Gonzales, but he is well on his way to yardage record for a tight end. BTW, he is already over 1000 yards at 1046 yards.
Drew Brees tied a record for his sixth consecutive 4000 yard season that ties Manning. He extended his 20 completion game record to 32 straight games. he has reach 30 touchdowns faster than he ever has and now projects to 40 touchdowns on the season. he is on pace to break both the attempts and completions records as well.
I couldn't attach a poll to get an answer to this question so I figure I need to get a discussion going on this to truly get a pulse on this question. As everyone knows I am stuck in the cultural wastelands of Charlotte, North Carolina. I so hate it here. So I'm not getting a sense anyone home is excited about this as I am.
Which records do you guy think Drew will break. I think he will break the season records for completion, attempts, yardage completion percentage and though he will have a personal best, he will not break the touchdown mark. I think he will break the record for most 5000 yard seasons, and go to 36 in his record for most consecutive games with at lest 20 completions and I think he will have 8 or 9 30 completion games for the season to increase his record in that department.
As for Jimmie Graham, I truly believe he will set the mark for most receptions and most yards by a tight end, The schedule has no one that defend him. The truly scary thing is he is a kitten. He is still learning. Last night he blew two routes that could have been a disaster. Did you see Sean Peyton lecturing him on the sideline about completing his routes.
I think Sproles will break the mark for combined yards by a running back. He is going to need at least two huge gains either running, receiving or returning to break the all time mark. I am talking bout at 60 yard gains.
I really need to know what you guys think about this and what the city is saying.

Aaron Rodgers put himself in the race for Marino's record once again
Here are the current passing yards followed by the projected yards.
Brees: 4,031
Brady: 3,916
Rodgers: 3,844
Here are their projected yards.
Brees: 5,375
Brady: 5,221
Rodgers: 5,125
At their current paces, Brees would own the record and Marino would drop to fourth all time. Are we seeing the golden age of the QB position or is this simply just a product of all the rule changes that have been made to benefit passing offense? Before this season, only two players ever reached 5,000 yards passing: Marino in 1984 and Brees in 2008. Now we have three players that are not only on pace to hit 5,000 yards passing, but they would all pass Dan Marino.

If you disagree with me in any way, you are wrong.
Except...
Brady and Rodgers numbers are likely to fall off if/when incumbent weather starts to hit them at home.

Except of course time is obviously running out.
Considering the weather forecast for this coming week…looks like nothing much is going to hamper them this week. Each one of them can still have a sub par week and still break the 5K yardage mark.
-Lombardi was wrong...it's the internet, not fatigue that makes cowards of us all. But then again, what do you expect. Not like the guy could see the future.
However
Only one of the three will have done it twice.

And, Brady will have to keep playing to keep/better their seeding. But all of their remainig games are outdoors, likely in cold weather.
GB could lose a couple and still get #1… Rogers will possibly not play in the last game (or two?). Next three are outdoors, last one is @ detroits (mostly-indoors)
Was pretty sure one of Brady’s games remaining is in Miami. Not exactly frigid conditions. Just saying. And I thought the last game was at Green Bay…wasn’t the Thanksgiving game at Detroit?
And Rogers will play…they’ve already stated they won’t be like Indy was in 2009. If their win streak is still active, he’ll play.

I still think Brees won’t play in week 17 due to having the 3 seed and division wrapped up. Unless San Fran falters of course.
that means he needs to avg 351 for the next 3 games to get it, one of which will be outdoors.

In an interview with SP
If Brees is in striking distance, say a hundred yards, they will let him go after record. If he needs like 300 yards, no so much.

didn't we lose
Graham, Jenkins, and Ivory in week 17 when that game pretty much meant nothing due to the falcons playing the panthers and us having the 5 seed locked up?
i’d rather that not happen again, hell with the record

Not only is he playing for Marino’s streak…he’s also playing for Unitas’ streak…a streak that has lasted for over half a century. Those are the kind of things you hang your canton hat on. Those are the kind of things you rally around as a team. No way Brees gets sat unless the Marino record is out of reach and if he’s failed to get a TD pass in a game before then.

does the record could games not played?
wouldn’t the record span at least one game that he didn’t play in, already?
I think games he misses doesn't count

the things you hang your hat on are
super bowl wins. lets say something happens in week 17 on the pass that passes Marino. you’re telling me that Brees is going to be happy bc that got his name in the record books??
by touchdown my pants on Dec 6, 2011 6:15 PM CST up reply actions
Brees doesn't strike me
as someone who cares about individual awards. he wants to win and thats it.

THAT IS SUCH BULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Drew Brees is very much aware of his place in history. He wants Canton as much as any other player in the NFL. I wouldn’t want and I don’t think he be as good as he is, if he didn’t have that competitive edge. I think he is still stinging about falling 15 yards short of the record before.

so you've talked to him??
you say that’s BULL?
I love how fans try to act like they know what players want or think. i’ve never once heard him make a comment about personal achievements. he said he wants to win and that’s it. if the awards and records come with that then terrific.
i’d bench him in week 17 if that game means nothing. after last years injuries, no chance in hell i take the risk.
If you ask me in 08 he underthrew that ball on purpose bc we weren’t winning or going to the playoffs. Moore was wide open, he doesn’t miss that pass.

You can tell by the way he talks
When you have listened to as many people talk as I have you can get a feel for their personality. Brees is a goals oriented overachiever.

I'm a teacher
I listen to 155 people everyday for one semester then a different 150 people the next semester. I have been doing that for a long time. So I get to listen to a wide variety of personalities. BTW, I listen to their sign language as well. Their body language can tell you more about a person than their words, which are usually colored by their mask.

so you basically can read minds?
look i’m not saying he doesn’t want the record or records for that matter but in any interview i’ve seen with him, he’s all team first. Him and Payton both have said in 08 they didn’t realize he needed 15 more yards. I’ve actually heard that in an interview.

No I study people
You should try it. It is called reading between the lines. And by the way the rest of the interview with Sean Peyton went if he had known, he would have gotten Drew the record. Drew is a team player, but don’t you think he reads the paper and the blogs that state he is the third or fourth best qb in the NFL. You got to know he wants to shove that record down their collective throats.

sorry
but you cannot “read” people you don’t know. you have no idea how that person thinks. thats very funny.

Sadly, Graham's yards will be overshadowed by Gronkowski's TDs
much like Drew’s record setting year is likely to be overshadowed by Rodgers ridiculous season, especially if the Packer’s make it a perfect year.
As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality. -Albert Einstein
I voted Drew and Jimmy
Graham might get overshadowed by Gronk’s TD’s but he is still the best TE in the NFL. Gronk is a beast, but I think that Graham will set even more records next year. This is the age of the QB’s and whenever commentators talk about Johnny U’s record, they do so by stating that he had a harder time because of the way they let the secondary play. I have to agree that yeah, it might have been harder for him to make those passes back then, but Drew is not only making the TD’s he is making the yardage also. When he breaks the yardage record and eventually the TD record and wins his second SB, his legacy will be set in stone.
It is also the margin by which these records may be broken
Jimmy is on pace for 1400 yards, which would break the old record by 110 yards. Additionally , Jimmy is on pace to break the yardage per game record, which was set over 30 years ago. He is close to pace to breaking the receptions for a tight end mark as well.

Remember Drew has already set two NFL records this season
1. The most consecutive 20 completion games – 32
2. Most 30 completion games in a season – 7
He could add to both these records this week. He on pace to break the completions in a season mark, the attempts in a season mark and the yardage mark. He could break the completion percentage mark, the passing yardage per game mark, the most 300 yard games in a season and the most 350 yard games in a season. That’s a lot of record in one season. Yet all they talk about is Aaron Rodgers, who has a better defense to help shorten the field for him.
