New Orleans coach Sean Payton said his team is a work in progress when asked if the Saints are better than they were last year. Coaches aren’t supposed to say their team is better than last year, so I’ll do it for him. The Saints are better than last year. They’ve got a better defense and a stable of healthy running backs to go with Drew Brees and the passing game.
Ask the Expert: Pat Yasinskas | Atlanta Falcons
The Saints certainly are sitting in a good spot and they seem to have really hit their stride in the last month or so. The Falcons still have a shot at them in New Orleans on Dec. 26. But the Falcons will have to win that game, get hot and get some help from another team if they’re going to have any chance at overtaking the Saints.

I don’t know what it is about Heath Evans’ voice, but it grates on me like sandpaper. Good guy, nice analysis, but hammer to head on NFLN.

I don't care for Heath Evans
He is a smug mofo. He probably sniffs his own a**.

A breath of fresh air...
for about two minutes of air. Then smugness combined with a special penchant for being smug and clueless. I don’t care for Evans a bit. So far, he’s the only one I can’t really stand to the point that he makes me change the channel.

Stu! we had a sighting of a quality veteran rejuvenating his career
In Duncan’s film study piece (4th Quarter, 1:13):
Bobby Carpenter blew up McQuistan in the hole, interfering with Nicks ability to pull and clear a path for Ingram.
Earning that paycheck, lining up for a big FA deal in 2012.

Yep, I've got that feeling about the Titans game. Let's go to the expert.

“IT’S A TRAP!”
Well, now wait a second. The Titans aren’t that bad. They have a respectable record at 7-5 and have won three of their last four, and Chris Johnson looks like he’s breaking out of his funk. Not to mention the Saints are a .500 team on the road this year.

“The Saints are 3 1/2 point favorites. IT’S A TRAP! When we attacked the second Death Star, our record was 1-1 and the Empire was clearly favored. And that was a TRAP.”
Yes, but you guys won both games on the road and got trounced at home.

“Good point.”
I think this scene appears on the extras of one of the new blu-ray Star Wars DVD

The media has already anointed Luck. They’ve been building him up for over a year. The hype has reached epic proportions. Don’t see how he can ever live up to it. They’ll be labeling him a bust within a couple of years. I hate the media.

Your right about that, media darling fo-sho
I just wish they (Stanford) were a little stouter and higher ranked, I would have liked to see LSU (SEC Power) v. Stanford (Super QB) in title gm. Richardson is just my pick.

What media have you been watching?
The media appointed Griffin…he’s been the non-stop talk as the Heisman runner after the back to back OK, Texas victories. He’s been all over the place doing interviews. And frankly…he deserves it. Richardson faced very similar level of competition to Wisconsin…and his numbers don’t even come close to Ball’s. Just because he’s in the SEC…doesn’t automatically grant him anything.
-Lombardi was wrong...it's the internet, not fatigue that makes cowards of us all. But then again, what do you expect. Not like the guy could see the future.

Accoring to my math, the worst run defense in football is…drumroll the Saints, who are allowing backs to increase their YPC by 1.0
I'm a real cool head, I'm makin' real good bread
What the hell is he talking about???
We are tied with………. GREEN BAY @ 4.9 YPC given up
And, St Louis (5.0) and Oakland (5.2) are worse than us.
-
In the last three games, however, we are 13th in YPC given up @ 3.9.
Where’s Green Bay in the last 3 games? 32nd!! @ 5.9 YPC.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Mike “Whoever the hell you are” Clay!
Talk about data mining.........
How many carries? If the opposing back only ran 10-times per game, this is only 10 yards. You must always put an average value in the context of overall sample size. Variance is also a critical element. If the variance is high, then this may mean better rushing yards, but more 3-and-outs, which is an acceptable trade-off.
Or here’s one. The runner was averaging 1 ypc, now he’s getting 2ypc. HE STILL SUCKS!
Did you know there are 13 worse teams than the Saints in the category of "Team Sacks per Game"
And the best part is, we play three of them during our final games: ATL, TEN, & CAR.
MIN is up there though.
