Florio's solution to NFL's labor dispute
For example, if the owners commit to diverting 10 cents per dollar to stadium costs and other expenses that the parties agree to share, the players probably would be willing to take 45 of the remaining 90 cents, since they would still be splitting the rest of the money on a 50-50 basis with the owners.

I believe a 50-50 split, after deducting legitimate operating expenses, was all the players were asking for. It’s that phrase “legitimate operating expenses” that has been the sticking point.
It was good while it lasted.
If they were, I’d be on their side. They were asking for the 60% they were already getting (after deductions, of course) AND they didn’t want the deductions to be increased.
Yes those were initial requests, but their unwillingness to publicly admit to how much they had compromised in the last week of negotiations when the NFL did give significant hints (not precise details, of course) as to how much they had compromised leads me to wonder just how much bargaining they really did, and how much they really just were waiting to get a chance to sue. Which, unfortunately, isn’t legitimate bargaining tactics. It’s legitimate now, of course… but it wasn’t legitimate then.
