Reggie Bush Challenges Skip Bayless, Calls him an Idiot

It's official, Reggie Bush has gone into full on Charlie Sheen mode.

Reggie must have been watching Skip Bayless respond to his idiotic tweetfest yesterday, in which Bush "jokingly" said he was enjoying his time off during the NFL lockout, on his ESPN show First Take today because Sheen Bush took to Twitter again just recently and called out Bayless angrily, even challenging him to a duel

Skippy Skipper Skip Bayless said my performance on the field doesn't give me a right to speak my mind! But his performance does! MY BAD!...I mean what was I thinking! This guy Skipper put it in so much blood, sweat, and heart into this game all behind a desk! You got it boss!...Let me take a step back and bow down to Skippy Bayless! All Hail the great Skipper! He def has my Hall of Fame Vote! Canton here we come!...This is an Official Challenge to 1 on 1 full gear and full contact with Skip Bayless! Plus a full conditioning drill and weight lifting!...If I win he wears a 25 jersey and a dress plus makeup on his show, he wins he gets a full game check! I bet he won't accept my challenge!!!...Now put that on SportsCenter! Holla!!!!

@RealSkipBayless don't act like you can't hear me boy! I know read about my tweets! I know you a fan!

@RealSkipBayless that's the response of a coward! You talk big like you can do my job! Some come do it! I was pretty direct w/ my challenge

@RealSkipBayless don't beat around the bush! I never once said I could do your job even though I can! You want some of this or what?

@RealSkipBayless and how did the 8 mile come into this! This ain't cross country you idiot stop trying to find ways to get out of this

Finally, some Reggie tweets I can get behind! Nobody likes Bayless.

Wait a minute...did Reggie just really say "don't beat around the bush!" Now that's comedy gold right there, I don't care who you are. Winning! Who knew he could be so witty.

Obviously Reggie is pissed. I don't know where this is going but this is getting exciting. Thanks for keeping us entertained during the NFL lockout, Reggie. Let me grab some popcorn for this show. And, by all means, keep 'em coming. Now if you can just convert your craziness into a lucrative side venture while you're out of work at your real job...

He slays Skippy better than Heath Evans.

Seriously, though, this isn’t good for Reggie. Even if he has every right to speak his mind and defend himself against his critics, he’s being less than professional.

Plus don't lump all of us into this.

I greatly respect Bayless….a hell of a lot more than I respect Reggie Bush, especially after this childish tirade.

Do i always agree with Bayless….of course not, most of the time i even strongly disagree. But this time he’s right. It’s Bayless’ job to respond to things like Bush’s idiotic tweets. Bush’s comments the last few weeks have become an embarrassment to the organization.

Sadly, without any actual football news, people are just latching onto whatever tweets get blown into full-on soap operas. Silly, really. I wish all sports outlets would start putting an easily visible stamp on all reports that said “via twitter” so I would know what to completely ignore.

reggie does have a point

i think this round of twitter by reggie has been blown way out of proportion since there isnt anything else in the nfl to talk about. the way most of the critics talk about him, it sounds like he is in the same conversation with ryan leaf and jamarcus as far as being a bust.
and skip is a douche, but he isnt the only sportswriter than comes over as an a**hole. i would just rather reggie use it as inspiration or something instead…

Both?

It’s Bayless’ job to make some noise, not Reggie. Someone should have stopped him (agent?) yesterday cause it was a classic no win situation for Bush. I’ll bet he misses more the Saints PR staff than the medical staff right now…

Repeat? Under construction...

by FrenchFreak on May 10, 2011 6:53 PM CDT up reply actions

It's not really a new era thing

It really is bigger than that. Bush is just not caring how any of this looks, whereas he’d have restrained himself just a year ago. He doesn’t care because he doesn’t care if he’s back in New Orleans. That’s what all this looks like, anyway. When do you remember Bush responding to any one of his critics in the media (and you know there are plenty), in this manner?

I think Reggie is gone. Gone from a place he doesn’t even want to be anymore. And he’s no good to us if he really doesn’t want to be here.

Yes, I and others may be reading too much into it and it is pure conjecture that he doesn’t want to be here and the tweetfest is an example, but I think even you suspect Bush doesn’t want to be a Saint, or couldn’t care less one way or the other. I think he thinks he needs to be in a place where he can prove all his critics wrong and he feels he needs a fresh start somewhere else to do that. He should think about things that he has done or hasn’t done that might have affected his time here, too.

If his PR guy/girl is behind this, he/she should be fired. If Reggie doesn’t want to play for NOLA anymore, that’s fine. But this isn’t the way to go about doing it. He’s just alienating fans and losing respect, one tweet at a time.

by TAYDIGGA on May 10, 2011 8:13 PM CDT up reply actions

This.

Reggie is ruining any chance of other team’s signing him if he wants to leave. At this point, I would suggest to him to just tell people he’s been stressed with personal problems, and he’s taking a break from the public life. Go work out, stay quiet and be good. He looks more promising to other teams, and that helps him in negotiations with the Saints in the coming months.

Good for you Reggie!

None of this crap would be happening if Jason Cole piece of crap article was never published. Several parts of Cole’s article was created using ficticious material. Cole stated,

Bush said in January that he didn’t expect to return to the team
Really?

I know what it was. It took him that long to research the information needed to compose his article. Does anyone buy that crap?

Cole also stated that

Bush was not expected to return to the Saints next season regardless of what the team did because he has so far declined to take a pay cut when the subject was broached before the NFL lockout began
Really he sat on that information too?

Why would a player want to restructure any contract knowing there might be a chance that there will be no football. That would be just retarted. Would you take a pay cut from guarenteed money knowing that you might be out of work in five months.

Now Reggie did tweet “It’s been fun New orleans”. However no one knew at the time if he was talking about football, or the Hornets getting knocked out. Jason Cole apparently knew though, but you know what? Cole did not sit o that information, he jumped on it. More than likely he wanted to be the first one to capatilize on the uncertainty of Bush’s Tweet. Well he did a fine job of that.

Jeff’ Duncan’s interview with Drew Brees on Reggie Bush is just now circulating the news outlets. I saw Duncan being quoted yesterday on rotoworld, and other various sports sites. When did Duncan do the interview with Brees? Hell, that was almost a week ago.

All of this crap started with Cole. Plain and simple. Now tidbits of information are being dragged out to created an atmosphere that Bush is a bad person.

They did the same crap with Steelers RB Mendenhall. Made a statement about Bin Laden about how can we as americans celebrate the death of a man so much. I personally understand him. But one writer took his comments out of context and now he lost a endorsement with Champion sports.

Sports media has nothing new to write or talk about. Sports media now has turned into a Soap Opera, and I commend Reggie Bush for standing up for himself. Why do people easiy forget that athletes are also people. That they are afforded the same rights to speech as everyone else.

I will never read another Jason Cole story again. He truly is a A__clown of epic porportions, and his work equates to that of a tabloid writer.

handling the lockout and are you missing the OTA`s” etc.
He hasn`t made himself look great , I agree, and this may well hasten his departure,
but I try not to get too excited by any of this.

Pre reply I withdraw the "haters" term

I feel it is a little strong. I had no idea who or what skip bayless is (being foreign etc)
so I googled him. It turns out he fronted a show on ESPN called cold pizza.
Given his apparent dislike of Reggie, alongside our very own CSCer – CP -
could they be the same person? Just throwing out my very own conspiracy theory.

I had this screen name since 1997. That show aired from 2003-2007. Do the math.

Prove it, Skip.

That doesn't prove anything.

Who’s to say the shows name didn’t originate from your screen name?

Say what you want

but when a cat 26 challenges a person who talks for a living in his late 50’s to “put on full gear…” there’s a problem. Anybody in sports entertainment has to have a thick skin and Reggie does not, nor does he have thick bones, cartilage etc as he keeps gettin hurt. He was invited on ESPN to take on Skip one on one he turned it down. That was a punk move. The first tweet after Ingram got drafted was a punk move. Again I say. Shut the F* up Reggie, get with Brees and the rest of the team and find yourself a HILL!!!!!
