LB Shanle worried Saints may not want to re-sign him
BAW gets the scoop with Lunch Pale's journal: I think we missed Scott Fujita a lot more than I think anybody thought we would. What he did for that (strongside linebacker) position, especially in Gregg Williams’ defense, there’s not many guys in the NFL who could do what he did for us at that position.

BAW should study up on his game tape before inserting footnotes. Fujita played the weak side in 2009. Shanle evidently just meant OLB in general.

Sometimes, or most of the time? Tony Grossi differs:
Fujita, 6-5 and 250 pounds, was the starting strongside outside linebacker in the Saints’ aggressive 4-3 scheme. He called the defensive signals and made sure the defensive front was set right. He probably projects inside at this point of his career in the Browns’ 3-4 scheme.

Don Banks is with Tony.
Though they need to get a bit younger and more athletic at outside linebacker, where Scott Shanle lines up on the weak side, opposite Fujita

GAA!!! Conspiracy!!!
The Saints had a solid group of linebackers when they swept through the playoffs in 2009 and won Super Bowl XLIV, lining up with veterans Scott Fujita on the strong side and Scott Shanle on the weak side with three-time Pro-Bowl pick Jonathan Vilma in the middle.

Common misconception. They’re listed that way just about everywhere on the internet. GW switched them. That was his first order of business here. Watch any DVD you may have purchased from that season, Superfan.
