Why Drew Brees Is STILL The Best QB In The League
A little over a year ago I wrote a post about why Drew was the best QB in the league, or at least in that elite category. In the year that has passed we've had a few more QB's that might be trying to also squeeze into that "elite" category with Brees, Manning, and Brady. Aaron Rodgers deserves major considerations after winning this year's Super Bowl, Michael Vick made a comeback for the ages, Philip Rivers still threw for a massive amount of yards despite not having a number 1 WR for most of the year.
But if you look at the following research, Brees is still #1 in most categories when you go by average per game. I broke his up into 2 areas, being his full career and his career with the Saints (the past 5 years). He is number 1 in YPG, TD's/PG, Completion %, and oddly second to last place in INT's (behind Favre) over the past 5 years. Even if you include his time with the Chargers he's still in the top 3 in most categories. The INTs I guess you could blame on the type of offense we run, the more you throw, the more chances you have of throwing interceptions.
The rest of the columns are Super Bowl wins (most important stat of all), round/pick in the draft, height, and region of the country they are from (the least important stats).
Just another little break from the usual lockout, Reggie tweets, etc news going on these days. Thought we could use a little peak back at what it's like to have an awesome QB like we do, that kicks all other QB's asses!
| YPG | TD/G | COMP % | INT/G | SB | ROUND/PICK | HGHT | REGION | |
| BREES | 255/290 | 1.7/1.9 | 65.2/67.1 | 0.95/1 | 1 | 2.1 | 6-0 | S |

We do have the best QB, Drew Brees,
and also the best coaching staff and players throughout the league. We have a complete all around totally great team. It’s no wonder why fans from around the nation are so jealous of our team. On the other hand, I bet if you take a survey throughout the nation, the Saints would have the most fans throughout the entire NFL.
Long slow decline. Watch the 2010 regular season Cardinals game for a preview.
I don't mind the games you play, but I don't like your dealin'
Superbowl Hangover and the injury bug
That's interesting. You know what makes me sad? YOU DO!!! Maybe we should chug on over to mambypandyland...or maybe we can find some self confidence for you YA JACKWAGON!!!!!!
(tears) Tissue?.....Crybaby.
INGRAMANIA! is on the incline. I wonder if they’ll high five one another as their career paths intersect.

Hopefully Ingramania ignites the 2009 Brees when we had the 6th ranked rushing in the league compared to this past years 28th. A running game might just be the best medicine Drew can take for this “decline”
Security in this office park is a joke. Last year, I came to work with my spud gun in a duffel bag. I sat at my desk all day, with a rifle that shoots potatoes at 60 pounds per square inch. Can you imagine if I was deranged?
What?
Tay, don’t tell me you believe that crap?

I think Brees will be great the next few seasons but...
I also think because of Payton’s pass happiness that it will be declining greatness. Still great but there’s a lot that Brees can’t do. I think his arm is weak and he gets a lot of passes batted down. Having said that, he’s got some accuracy like no other within 25 yards and I think his agility in the pocket is underrated. So I’m not a Brees hater (as far as his game goes) by no means just think we’ve seen the best of him.
2010 is cuzzin's breakout year...run with that chip bruh!
I thought Brees was the best this year because Favre retired...
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Laughter is the only thing that makes the tears stop.
So you all running another FFL this year? Almost had you last year..

Feeling generous, I’m going to chalk that up to interlopers or deliberate provocateurs. Hey, you put McNabb on there and not Super Bowl ring wearing Eli? GAAAA!!!
I used to play that pinball, I used to go outside
speaking of... it's 2011
Geoff Mosher of the Wilmington News Journal believes Donovan McNabb’s career is “spiraling toward its end” this offseason. Mosher covered McNabb with the Eagles, and he now believes all signs are pointing to the end. “Perhaps there is no worse sign for McNabb,” Mosher writes, “than the fact that the Vikings, coached by former Eagles assistant Leslie Frazier, almost tore a biceps tendon reaching for Christian Ponder at 12th overall.” McNabb is going to demand big money and a clear-cut starting job wherever he goes. He’s going to have a hard time finding a team willing to make that commitment considering his age, ego, and 2010 game film.
Make us all feel better, make us all feel fine
Manning 9
Brady 2
Favre 5
Rodgers 5
Roethlisberger 2
Brees 8
those are the number of seasons it took each of the Super Bowl winning QB’s to win their first big game. Roethlisberger being the youngest and Manning taking the longest. Brees was second to longest time, but if you want to continue the trend of “when he came here” it took him 4, one year under the 5 year average of these QB’s.

Brady had a reallly good defense that year.
Same as Rothlisberger. Rodgers was both great and had a great defense. And Brees carried the whole damn team there.
Canal Street Chronicles-A place of great Saints news and information. Oh and the stuff I write!
We didn’t have too bad of a defense either, they won more than a couple games for us that year, and our running game wasn’t anything to scoff at

Of course, that's just like Manning in 2006.
He carried his team, and then, when they had more pieces than just him, they finally won a Super Bowl.
Canal Street Chronicles-A place of great Saints news and information. Oh and the stuff I write!
He carried the whole team?
haha, our D helped tremendously!

As I said above,
He carried the team and when the Saints finally had more talent around him on both offense and defense, they won a Super Bowl. Similar to Manning in Indy.

Brees is the only one of those QB that swiched teams, and on the switch team won a SB ring.

Brett Favre was on the Falcons and switched to Green Bay and won a super bowl

Brees still hasn't broke that barrier into where he's mentioned with the greats...
I think 3 of those QB’s will be.
2010 is cuzzin's breakout year...run with that chip bruh!
What^2?
When people mention how good QBs are, everyone says “Is he a Manning, a Brees, a Brady?”
I seriously don’t understand why you would defend Reggie from murder, yet pile on Brees. I know you said he was great, but now he’s not elite?
Canal Street Chronicles-A place of great Saints news and information. Oh and the stuff I write!
He's elite in the NFL now fool...
What’s with this EXTRA response?!! Brees is sick I’m just saying I think he has to continue on doing what he’s doing to be considered up there with the greats (Testaverde, Esiason and Everett).
2010 is cuzzin's breakout year...run with that chip bruh!
that's a joke...
just want to see your response. I mean throughout history (Montana, Unitas, Elway).
2010 is cuzzin's breakout year...run with that chip bruh!
Oh ok.
I see what you mean now. I thought you meant he wasn’t as good as Manning or Brady, you meant historical greats. I know what you mean now.
Canal Street Chronicles-A place of great Saints news and information. Oh and the stuff I write!
It’s also crazy how similar Rodgers and Rivers stats are, other than the SB, they are almost identical stats wise

and just how over-rated matt ryan is, besides mcnabb and vick (who aren’t known for their accuracy) he’s got the lowest completion %, the 2nd to lowest passing ypg, tied for 2nd to lowest TD/pg, and guess what…still no super bowl appearance

he's only been in the league, what 4 years?
But I don’t think he’ll ever win one. Ryan is a Jim Kelly type player. Really good but he’ll never make it.

A lot of "really good" players are in the hall of Fame
But I was talking about superbowls son.
2010 is cuzzin's breakout year...run with that chip bruh!
Agreed. I think Rivers is the better overall QB between the two, but it’s splitting hairs.

Haven't read any Piers Anthony in years. Is he still writing?
Was one of the first writers with the alternative/multiple universe themes. Seem to almost be accepted scientific fact now.

He emailed me back too! But I haven’t read him since I was a shorty. My pops put me on to him…i actually don’t know if he is still writing. He’s on my nostalgia list though.

im new to this.
can somebody please explain to me how to blog, i mean where do i go to write a blog and post it. thanks. sincerely, the most unholiest saints fan ever.
Try a Google search on the subject.
I’m sure they have tutorials that can take you through the steps. Also, if you’re serious about it, try to clean up things like capitalization, spelling, and punctuation. It makes for an easier read and projects well.
Good luck.

thanks for your help.
i’m good though, i figured it out, and without google. how about that? as for your other suggestions, im an english major so, i really think i can handle it. hope you have just Another day.
i voted rodgers
mostly because he’s young and crazy accurate. He knows how to win games it seems and is a good leader/locker room presence. Rivers seems like he wouldn’t be a great locker room pressence/leader to me but as far as stats he’s alot like rodgers but I think part of it is that Rivers is in a weak division now.
Let's have a 2011 season. Get a deal done
but I think part of it is that Rivers is in a weak division now
Ah, yes. Asomugha, Bailey and Flowers. The dregs of opposing CBs.
"I was not on the boat in question" -Darren Sharper
2 out of 3 of those teams sucked!
I think he meant the teams in general and not one cornerback. Go ahead…(waving my hand as if to say your go).

The bottom two combined for 12 wins in 2010. That’s no worse that the two 6-10 teams in Rodgers’s division.
