I don't think this is all that crazy

The author says that he/she’s just comparing the early stats of some HOFers to Matt Ryan’s early years, and extrapolates that he’s “right there” as far as initial numbers go (I agree), and says that if Ryan continues to improve and wins a Super Bowl that he’ll make it to Canton. That’s not so wild. Hardly troll-worthy (but then again, I don’t troll, so I don’t really think anything is troll-worthy).

It’s not much different than Scottie Pippen comparing LeBron James to Michael Jordan through x-number of seasons.

You also have to figure Ben Roethlisberger has a legitimate shot at Canton, even if he DOESN’T win any more SBs. That’s assuming his off the field issues fade from the sports pages and he doesn’t outright suck at some point in his career. Ryan’s seems like a better all around QB than Ben, so I would think it within the realm of possibility.

I personally prefer to gauge HOF potential by assuming that the player’s career ended today. That’s truly all that’s truly guaranteed, so why not make that the line in the sand? In that light, the only definite QBs I see out there as of right now, are Brett Favre, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. There are a ton of maybes, including guys as far back as John Brodie.

I do not condone trolling. There is nothing wrong with a rec, though. I have set a quiet path of rec’s without trolling.

Maybe MARY JANE will load up and pass the PEACE PIPE around the conference room and they’ll all get happy in a big hurry, which might just help speed up the process. - HansDat

Matt Ryan is going to be a big pain in the ass for years to come. Josh Freeman too. Cam Newton, not so much.

Newton may, also. I won’t make that call until season’s end.

I can see Matt Ryan in the HoF . . .

. . . gazing longingly at the Drew Brees exhibit.

Seriously, it’s not too hard to imagine.

Sadly, probably not. But the image is quite appealing.
