Coaches insist Pierre Thomas is not trade bait
"He's here," said one coach when asked about some reports that Thomas... might now be expendable. "We've seen firsthand that you can't have enough (backs)."
Thomas remains attractive to the Saints because, while not a great back, he is very good in the team's tailback-by-committee model, fits nicely into a scheme that is heavy on screen passes, and he's relatively cheap. The four-year extension he signed back in March is worth a modest $2.7 million per year and didn't include a signing bonus.
Of course, that could also make Thomas, who is due a $2.7 million roster bonus, attractive to other teams if the Saints decide they want to deal him. But the club seems insistent that isn't the case.

Guess that means he IS trade bait.
Canal Street Chronicles-A place of great Saints news and information. Oh and the stuff I write!
"I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose...Rapture!"
I think maybe
If TUSK! gets hurt, PhotoOp stays hurt, Reggie goes to Philly for the $$ or INGRAMANIA!! pulls an Antonio Pittman, then they’d have to keep PT. Otherwise, PayLoo’d let him go for the right price, wouldn’t they? (JuJo=non-factor, best available bum off the street, Ladell Betts=not even worth mentioning, not to not mention that Chris kid )
Hey, I forgot Joique Bell. If he does as coldpizza commands, PT is toast.

“that Chris kid” = DeShawn Wynn, had to look it up
While looking it up, I saw this: Rotoworld.com:
Lynell Hamilton – RB – Saints
Saints RB Lynell Hamilton is expected back with the team in 2011. He’ll go to camp, at least. Hamilton, though, is a restricted free agent who will require a tender worth over $1 million. After he missed all of the 2010 season with a torn right ACL, Hamilton won’t be worth that much money. Feb 11, 5:07 PM

tommy v expects Hamilton back, though. That seems to have slipped your mind.

Seems that EVERYONE has Ingramania.
The whole team seems to be expendable now that we have a well-rounded back that has never seen an NFL defense and had knee surgery before his junior year. Any chance we could dial it back from an 11 to like a 9 until we actually see the kid take an NFL snap? I like the guy. I’m happy he’s on the team, and he’s a commodity for sure. But he’s an unproven commodity. I’m typically more of a homer than a lot of the folks on this site, but now even the media is all over this dude.
I somewhat agree, I’m cautiously optimistic about Ingram.
And just as you have planted your seed in the ground, I'm going to plant my seed in you.
....
Hard to keep with this story if a RB on another team goes down in camp or the preseason. As much as PayLoo like the security of a deep backfield, offers might come over too good to pass up.
