Ridiculously Early 2011 Saints Roster Breakdown: Offensive Line

Just about through with our position by position look at the 2011 Saints roster. Because there aren't too many players at each position,  we're talking about the entire offensive line as a whole.

Remember that we're ignoring any free agency or lockout implications that exist or may arise in the near future and assuming everyone get's re-signed. Make the jump to see exactly who's currently listed on the roster and to get my opinion on where they stand as far as their chances of making the team this year. Of course I want to hear your opinions on the subject as well.

Star-divide

Definite

Carl Nicks (G), Jahri Evans (G)

These guys both suck. There is no way either of them makes it past training camp.

Likely

Jon Stinchcomb (T), Charles Brown (T), Zach Strief (T)), Jermon Bushrod (T), Jonathan Goodwin (C), Matt Tennant (C/G)

The same four tackles from last year return again in 2011 and I expect all of them to make the final roster, simply for experience and depth purposes. Which two start is a completely different question.

Both centers are also included in this category because I think they too will make the cut, Goodwin for consistency and veteran leadership, Tennant because he'll be Goodwin's replacement at some point.

On the Bubble

Brian de la Puente (G), Roger Allen (G/T)

The Saints are going to need someone to backup Evans and Nicks at the guard position in the event of injury. Allen and de la Puente are currently the only options so, naturally, they've got a shot at making the roster. Allen may have a better chance because of his versatility and ability to to compete at tackle.

Longshot

None

I think every one of these players has at least a legitimate shot at making the team.

What about those two guys you said sucked and had no chance making it past training camp?

Maybe MARY JANE will load up and pass the PEACE PIPE around the conference room and they’ll all get happy in a big hurry, which might just help speed up the process. - HansDat
