NFL LOCKOUT UPDATE: Start of Free Agency Likely Delayed...Again

Stay connected for news and updates

Yesterday morning I pointed out that the start of the free agency period, which will begin with a three-day exclusive period for teams to sign their own free agents, was likely going to be pushed back from its originally anticipated July 22nd start date to a later date of Monday, July 25th.

This morning, it's looking like I have more news of delays to pass along. Now, instead of anticipating the start of free agency to be on July 25th, that three-day exclusive free agency period is more likely going to start two days later on Wednesday, July 27th.

Jason LaCanfora reports via Twitter:

GMs and cap guys I've talked to have said reports...Of free agent activity beginning Mon, as some have professed, are "overly aggressive." They think maybe 72hr period to sign and cut your own...Players would possibly begin next Wednesday, with full-blown free agency beginning that Fri/Saturday

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Granted it's only another two days to wait, the constant push backs and hold-ups only get more and more frustrating, particularly since we continue to hear how close a new deal is to finally get completed. We can only hope this is the final delay and that free agency will truly begin next week at the latest.
