It was trumpeted today that the trade association formerly known as the NFLPA would be meeting today to vote on a CBA deal. It seems however, that has not happened.
NFL players will not vote Wednesday on any labor deal to end the lingering lockout, a source with knowledge of the situation told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora.
The NFL Players Association's executive committee and representatives of all 32 teams met Wednesday in Washington, but some participants left in the afternoon after reviewing portions of a tentative deal.
Two NFLPA officials emphasized before their meeting Wednesday morning that the 32 player representatives won't be rushed as they review paperwork.
Well that sucks. Without the deal voted on today, that could throw everything else off schedule, delaying the lockout further. In fact as Jim Trotter tweeted, the players have a few more grievances to iron out.
BREAKING: Player reps have voted to forward settlement agreement to named plaintiffs, pending resolution of some outstanding issues. ...The players vote is conditional, meaning they're prepared to forward the settlement if certain issues can be resolved with the owners. ...
One of the issues presumably is the $320 million the players lost in benefits last season during the uncapped year.
Players feel owners should pay them that money, while owners are perplexed by request because they never owed the $s.
