Saints Negotiate Contract with Tight End Mike Higgins

Undrafted free agent Mike Higgins, a tight end out of University of Nebraska-Omaha, has negotiated a contract with the Saints. This one fell through the cracks, so I apologize for missing it. The news came last night via nola.com

The Saints will sign a tight end from UNO! I didn't even know they had full-fledged football yet. Wait, that's Mike Higgins from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Higgins is the first tight end the Saints have signed/negotiated with so far this off-season. Which is good since the Saints may be in need of at least one tight end. I was able to find some information related to Mr. Higgins, which can be found after the jump.

The secret has long since been out regarding UNO tight end Mike Higgins.

The All-MIAA selection earned All-America honors and NFL interest last season with his combination of size and speed.

With Greg Wunderlich departed and the decision on a new starting quarterback coming later in fall camp, Higgins will be a primary target of opposing defenses, and it could be hard to match last year's totals of 50 receptions for 848 yards and nine touchdowns.
