And the hits just keep on coming. The Saints have signed yet another unrestricted free agent in former Cincinnati Bearcats kicker Jake Rodgers. Tom Gelehrter from FOX Sports Ohio has the news via his Twitter account:
A 4th Bearcat has a new job tonight....congrats to Jake Rogers on joining the New Orleans #Saints. Heads to NOLA tomorrow.
Looks like Garrett Hartley will have a little competition in training camp, though I'd say the Saints are pretty confident in his abilities given the new contract they just offered him.

2010: Kicked a pair of extra points in the opener at Fresno State, running his career total to 270 points ... trails Jonathan Ruffin (1999-2002), who is UC's career leader with 315 points ... was his 150th extra point made and 153rd attempted, both already school records...
2009: Converted 13 of 19 field goal attempts on the season (68.4 percent), including 5-7 from 30-38 yards, 4-6 from 40-49 yards, 0-2 from 50-plus yards out. His long kick was 47 yards. Rogers had 23 touchbacks in 92 kickoff attempts, one of the better percentages in the country. He also punted 43 times for 1,788 yards (41.6 average), with a long of 54 yards. He put 15 kicks inside the 20 yard line, forced fair catches on eight kicks and had three touchbacks and one blocked.
2008: Named a Lou Groza Award semifinalist ... named BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending on Nov. 30 ... connected on 16-of-22 field goals with a long of 54 yards ... made his first 11 field goal attempts of the season and 13 straight dating back to the 2007 season, tying the school record set by Jonathan Ruffin in 2002 ... converted 34-of-36 extra point attempts and finished with 81 points, which led the Bearcats and placed sixth in the BIG EAST ... booted a BIG EAST-long 54-yard field goal at Connecticut, which ranks as the third-longest kick in school history ... knocked through three kicks of 50 yards or more ... holds four of the Top 10 longest field goals in school history ... ranks sixth in school history with 27 made field goals ... seventh in UC annals with 165 career points ...
2007: Managed the placement and kickoff chores throughout the season ... tallied 13 touchbacks, including four in the Papajohns.com Bowl, along with two each against Marshall and Louisville ... shared the team lead with 84 points ... converted 51-of-54 PAT kicks ... good on 11-of-19 field goal tries, including 9-of-12 attempts from inside of 40 yards.
