Usama Young Drawing Interest from Cleveland Browns

Stay connected for news and updates

As if taking free agent linebacker Scott Fujita from the Saints last year wasn't enough, the Browns are apparently now showing interest in snagging another Saints free agent this year: safety Usama Young.

Mary Kay Cabot, the Browns beatwriter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer has been hearing rumors and has shared them through her Twitter account:

#Browns interested in signing Saints CB and Kent State alum Usama Young (6-0, 200), source said. Was 3rd-round pick in 2007 of KSU.#nfl

Usama isn't a defensive starter but he's been an asset on Saints special teams and just an all around good guy in the locker room and in the community. The loss of Young wouldn't be as damaging as Fujita's departure last summer but it would certainly hurt the Saints depth at safety. Young originally started his career as a cornerback, which makes him versatile and adds value.

If anything happens, we'll keep you posted.
