The Saints have signed their first veteran free agent, in linebacker Will Herring. Herring was formerly on the Seattle Seahawks. The word comes from WarBlogle, an Auburn Tiger's site.
Former Opelika QB/Auburn DB Will Herring has signed with the New Orleans Saints. These former Auburn players are trying my NFL allegiances.
The tweet lists him as a DB, but he has changed positions since. This has been confirmed by other sources such as Larry Holder. This being the case, the Saints may have found a OLB that they can use. If nothing else, he can contribute on special teams. I've got some links and I've rounded up some information on him, so make the jump to see those.
Here's his official NFL profile. His numbers aren't that impressive, but he was more of a backup/special teamer.I was able to find a tweet on him from a Seattle blogger, who gives some reasons why he may have signed with the Saints.
@hawkblogger and I like Herring- just think he wants to start and PC drafted 2 LB in 2011 and we carry 5 LB once in a while 6
Here's his Seattle Seahawks' profile.
So what do you think? You guys like this signing?
