Saints Release LB Stanley Arnoux, LS Jason Kyle
The New Orleans Saints announced today that they have released linebacker Stanley Arnoux and long snapper Jason Kyle. Both players failed their physicals.
That creates a little more wiggle room on the roster for the Saints to sign some of their remaining free agents or bring in a veteran free agent from another team.
The Saints have plenty of linebackers remaining on the roster and still haven't signed Marvin Mitchell or Kawika Mitchell, so no problems there. There's also no shortage of long snappers on the team, with Justin Drescher and UDFA Kyle Nelson still remaining to battle it out.

As much as I hate to see players go
losing Jason Kyle does not bother me at all.

If either Arnoux or Kyle have some medical ailment that caused them to fail a physical, I’ll apologize in advance. But if not, how does a young man blow a chance to make the team because they’re unable to just stay in shape? It’s like someone who wants to be an accountant but doesn’t have the inclination to learn simple math.
im sure its more of a lingering injury, than showing up to camp out of shape

Exactly correct. They IR rules protect you for only one year. Last year they would have been “waived, injured” and thus ended up on IR.
Now that their preexisting injuries have prevented them from performing to adequate levels, the Saints have three options: cut them, PUP them, or wait for them to heal. They chose option 1.
Arnoux: An Achilles tear in 2009 AND 2010. Five tackles in nine games.
Kyle: $865,000 for 2011
But as from today, well, I've got somebody that's new.
Arnoux was someone we once had high hopes for,
along with Chip Vaughn. However, I’m not surprised to see Arnoux finally cut. Remember this Stanley, they can cut you, but they can never take away your Super Bowl ring ( unless “they” are a parking lot valet).

Stan the man will only be missed in our unmet hopes and dreams. I wonder what it’s like to pull an NFL salary while doing nothing for several years?

Get a Safety and a Linebacker
Manny Lawson is still out there (to my knowledge) make a play. There are a few good safeties (including 2 that already know our system).
HOLY CRAP!!!
I HAD NO IDEA Manny WAS THIS CHEAP…

If those numbers are real, and 2010 followed the trend of slight increase, we need to be on the phone.

If he wasn’t so out of shape with the Pats, I’d say we should look at him

Don't go hating on Arnoux
I saw him and Vaughn many times at Wake Forest and Arnoux was a beast, as good in his own way as his more highly touted counterpart Aaron Curry. Arnoux is the furthest thing from a slacker, and he played for a coach in Jim Grobe who is an excellent college coach. His achilles injury was just a bad break. Shame all around

"hating" implies "caring about"
Life was cruel to Stanley’s dreams. Now he can join the other 95% of society.

OK Mr. Sensitive
Assume that means that you must be part of the other embittered 95%
Still a loss. Some, like Jamarcus Russell, throw away opportunities..for them, I have no sympathy. Others, like Randy Livingstone or Arnoux, have their dreams destroyed by injury. I tend to have more compassion for the latter. If you consider yourself the ultimate realist, so be it. Free country.

I’m sure there must be a few people that are realer than me. But that’s just the realist talking again. So maybe I am the realest realist!
I don’t care any more about the ratio of his good fortune to his effort than he does about mine. But if you say he was more of a “stand up guy” than Jamarcus “NFL debate’s version of Hitler” Russel, then okay. I’m sorry for his loss. On the upside, he’s still probably pretty well off, and healthy enough for regular work. And he’s still very young. If he uses that legendary work ethic of his to soldier through this wave of adversity, he could come out of it a better player than ever! I, for one, will monitor his career closely.
And I’m not bitter, I’m jealous! That dude made probably something in the ballpark of 2 million dollars and got a free ride through Wake Forest because he was good at a game. I got a pretty good work ethic, myself, but it’s gonna take me a hell of a lot more adversity-overcoming than that to reach seven figures. I envy that man, for all his good fortune. But I am still sorry he hurt his leg. He’s not going to make the Saints any better, though.
It’s so easy to turn into an argumentative d-bag through this veil of relative anonymity. I’m sorry. I have missed interweb ranting, though.

You’ve been away too long. This ain’t nothing compared to what been going on at CSC during your absense.

FIFY
His achilles injury injuries was just a bad break were 2 strokes of incredibly bad juju that we don’t need stinking up the Saints.
But as from today, well, I've got somebody that's new.
