In a move that surprises no one, yet may make some Saints fans upset, the Saints have re-signed Roman Harper to a 4 year, $28 million deal. The news comes from Adam Schefter:
Saints re-signed S Roman Harper to a 4-year deal worth $28.5 million, including $16 million guaranteed
In my opinion, Harper isn't worth $7 million. However, the Saints had their hands tied for two reasons. First, the Saints ran out of safeties on the market. Secondly, the Chargers signed Eric Weddle to a 5 year $40 million deal that set the market. If the Saints wanted Roman Harper back, they were going to have to overpay.
Regardless, Harper being back helps the Saints with their run support and he's a great in the box safety, who excels in Gregg Williams' system. Here's hoping Harper has a really good four years with the Saints and helps them get to another Super Bowl!
