NFC South Roundup: This is not "Bring your Roundup to Work" Day, this is just "Work" Day

I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July. Unfortunately, the holiday is over and it's back to work. Hopefully, the holiday weekend gave people some time off to relax, especially the players and owners' negotiators. While we keep hoping/praying/sacrificing animals to a pagan god for the lockout to end, the roundup is back! I bring you stories from around the NFC South that I found the most intriguing for Saints fans.

We have some good stories this week. And I highly recommend everyone at least take a look at the story from CSR about the NFL's top 100 countdown. In order to do that however, you must make the jump!

Star-divide

Panthers News:

Panthers' DC Sean McDermott regarding player safety in 2010: "Nothing Changes" - Cat Scratch Reader
I'm sure their IR list won't be filled to the top.

Cam Newton running Panthers' offense at IMG - Cat Scratch Reader
Newton: Alright guys, I think we've worked hard enough that we can move on to a...more complicated play.

Stewart: How complicated?

Newton: We're going to run... Play Yellow

Offense: GASP

Clausen: Can someone remind me again, how this guy won the starting job over me?

Players vote former Panther Julius Peppers #10 player overall... or did they? - Cat Scratch Reader
Here's the highly recommended read of the week. Players are wondering who voted, because a few seem to have come forward and said they haven't voted on the top 100 list. Take a read and give your take in the comments.

Bucs News:

What Game Should Be The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Throwback Game? - Bucs Nation
Ah, the dreamsicles. One of the games being discussed is the Saints @ Bucs Week 6 game. I really hope that isn't the game, I don't want to stare at those things for 3 hours.

Mike Williams Needs to Stop Dropping The Ball - Bucs Nation
Drew Brees Needs to Stop Throwing Interceptions. Jermon Bushrod Needs to Stop getting abused by Defensive Linemen. Scott Shanle Needs to Stop Getting abused by tight ends. Have I stated enough obvious?

Gerald McCoy's and Warren Sapp's Rookie Seasons - Bucs Nation
What is it with fans trying to compare rookies to all time greats? Thank goodness Saints fans don't do that. #MarkIngramisthenewEmmittSmith

Da'Quan Bowers' Knee Is Fully Healed - Bucs Nation
The Source is Bowers, so don't get too worried. The fact that he dropped from a possible #1 pick to the 52nd pick means that all 32 teams were afraid to grab him at least once, and some teams avoided him multiple times. He may end up surprising everyone, but I don't see how he plays in 2011 unless it's in limited snaps.

Falcons News:

New Falcons Era Has Several Records On The Brink - The Falcoholic
I found a great new record that the Falcons hold that makes me giddy. For the past 3 playoff appearances by the Falcons (2010, 2008, 2004), the Falcons have lost to the eventual conference winner (Packers, Cardinals, Eagles). I don't know if it's an NFL record, but it's funny as hell as I laugh at their misery.

Julio Jones Is Becoming Everyone's Falcons Hero - The Falcoholic
Julio seems to have become the Falcons Mark Ingram. Which makes sense, because both teams traded up to grab the player in the first round. Are both on offense and even from the same school. Except of course, Ingram's better. (Sticks tongue out in the direction of Atlanta).

Tony Gonzalez: Matt Ryan Will Bring The Fireworks - The Falcoholic
Well what I want to know, is what kind of fireworks? Is he talking about bottle rockets? Roman Candles? Big Berthas? Black Kats? Those huge $200 boxes of explosions? Are is he talking about...these (NSFW) kind of fireworks? Because if he brings Katy Perry and...those, I may have to rethink my opinion of young Matt.

LOL!

My ex loved that show. I always thought is was a little too whiney… the lead actor and his love/like/whatever interest.

His whineyness is what helps make the show.

Dr. Cox and Kelso make the show. It’s why once they forced one to retire and made the other one happy, the show started sucking.

Canal Street Chronicles-A place of great Saints news and information. Oh and the stuff I write!

Yeah, Dr Cox made the show watchable for me.

I'd like to thank the drunk jackwagons around the corner from me for setting off a THOUSAND of firecrackers at once at 11:00 p.m. last night

I grew up in South Cackalacky, and I know what a ginormous brick of firecrackers sounds like when it goes off. I don’t mind waking up, but two kids under three crying – not cool. Fireworks are illegal in the city, and they set them off on New Years and the Fourth and I never complain, but last night I was tempted to sic the cops on them.

I know, CSB, I’m still cranky about it…

worst year ever

Fireworks in the area Friday, Saturday, Sunday night, and then huge blowout with mortar shells on Monday night. Scared the cats. I felt bad for the dogs in the area. They get spooked and run until they’re exhausted. My dental hygienist lost her dog for several days due to preemptive opening fireworks sales day detonations. I don’t know what it was doing off the leash. I’m a winner, I’m a sinner. Do you want my autograph? (obligatory Roger Hodgson reference)

My dog didn't stir.

He’s a beagle. A mouse farts three houses down and he loses it. Fireworks going off a hundred feet a way – snores through the whole thing.

Beagles are awesome..I used to have one but he was stolen :-(

Aw, man.

Stealing dogs is one of the lowest things a human being can do.

Mine’s getting on in years. Has diabetes, now (genetic – he’s not fat at all). Have to give him insulin shots twice a day.

Bowers claims his knee injury is not 'degenerative'

I guess that’s true. When it’s ‘bone on bone’ there really isn’t anything left to degenerate.

Another falcon record

Fastest home crowd exodus for a number one seed playoff team.
That pitiful stadium was empty by the second quarter against the packers.

Newton: Alright guys, I think we’ve worked hard enough that we can move on to a…more complicated play

That’s hilarious.

I wishfully imagine Cam Newton’s play book to be similar to the one my team had when I played football as a kid.
Our best player was a WR named, coincidentally, Reggie. I’m not saying he was recruited, but lets just say all of the need based scholarships at my school happened to be really good at football. Anyway, Reggie had a hard time mastering the playbook, so we made it really simple for him: we named the plays based on what he was supposed to do. “Right Reggie Slant”, “Left Reggie Go”, etc. It was a little more complex than that, but you get the idea.
