Saints Training Camp: Oxnard Day Four Recap

The Saints practices in Oxnard are almost over. After Sunday, the Saints will pack up and head back home to New Orleans, where the Saints will play their final preseason game against the Tennessee Titans. Even though the Saints might want to come back to California in the future, one writer is upset with the Saints for even thinking of this.

In injury news, Roman Harper had a finger issue today, while Mark Ingram returned to the field, and Carl Nicks stayed on the sideline. Joe Morgan is out for 2-4 weeks with a knee issue (another knee issue?), and even Lance Moore is getting in on the injuries with a groin issue.

As usual, we have a nice collection of tweets, links and videos. We also have a link to a video featuring former Saints full back, Heath Evans, getting into a huge argument with Micheal Lombardi over Drew Brees and Phillip Rivers. To see that and more, make the jump to see your daily collection of Saints news.

Hope, but don't bet on that, because Dunk (Jeff Duncan) pretty much always is spot on with his facts. (Jon note: "The Saints don't draft running backs in the first round.")

I don't like it when these guys use their cute little nicknames for each other in their columns/stories/articles
because Dunk (Jeff Duncan) pretty much always is spot on with his facts

I’m assuming that name has some ironic heft to it, or maybe it’s a donut reference…whatever.

Thumbs up, everybody...

Same.

That’s why I wrote Jeff Duncan in parentheses to help people out.

Bring back Aaron Brooks! He's the only one who can save us from the evil that is Drew Brees!!

I enjoyed the Saints fan’s comments to that article. Maybe dude can actually write, but I’ll never know because he came across as such a toolbag that I’m going to avoid his work in the future.

Was sort of interesting.

I just watched it. Well, I turned it off before it was over (I didn’t want to get all ticked off so early in the morning), but it was still there.

Evans should have gone with a leadership argument instead of the tired old “ring ring ring” routine. Frankly, he sounded like a meat head, even though I had the same problem with the rankings that he did.

by Jimbo03 on Aug 26, 2011 7:32 AM CDT up reply actions

Randle El probably had a the better argument than Evans even though i know

what Evans was tring to say…he seemed to be mad that Lombardi put Rivers ahead of Brees and he doesn’t have the big game resume that the rest of the QBs in the top 6 have. Randle El hit it on the head tho…lombardi is looking at passers not QBs. He’s rattling off stats instead of accomplishments. I mean if you take EVERYTHING into account including playoffs and SBs…..Eli should take Rivers place…..It really does bug me that people are kinda down on Brees right now. I mean I know its a who has the hot hand right now league but this guy has been making history since he’s been here. Yeah he had 22 picks last year but come on wouldn’t you if you pretty much had to throw the ball damn near every play. Even though we lost in the playoffs look at his stats….no picks, 404yds, but the guy had to throw the ball 60 times with no defensive help that game of course its going to be hard to win. the bottom line is yes he makes some hero decisions sometimes and could lead to turnovers but in the postseason this guy shows up.

" I’ve never done drugs but I think watching Matty Ice stare blankly towards the field as Drew Brees kneels down while clock hits zero in a playoff game would be like doing cocaine off a strippers @$$#….yeah that good.

Anyone else worried?

We seem to have a MASH unit assembled. There is less than two weeks until the season opener. I am beginning to worry that we may not be able to field a decent team. Can someone talk me off the ledge?

by nolanative on Aug 26, 2011 10:05 AM CDT reply actions

Take a look at the other 31 teams too

They’re all dealing with the injury bug. Players’ hammys are popping like pop corn and knees are blowing out like Firestone tires. We’ll have injuries to deal with and worry over, but so will all other teams.

Evans.

I hated his twitter commentary, though accepting of it as his free speech right.

I’m not sorry he’s gone, but I like him as a breath of fresh air in his recent appearances on the NFL Network. He’s not willing to just toe party lines.

He's a strange guy

but I like that he sticks to his guns. Also Michael Lombardi needs to lay off the donuts.
