Saints Training Camp: Oxnard Day Five Recap

The Saints practice is over. And with practice over, training camp is also offically over for 2011. Come next week, the Saints will begin regular practice periods.

In links picked up today, I found one that might stir debate up. Drew Brees says that people need a lot of patience if they expect Tim Tebow to change his old ways. Is Brees right? Who knows, I'm not a talent evaluator but the guy who drafted Tebow early got fired (though not for that move). Just thought it was an interesting pickup.

In another link, I saw that Darren Sharper says he may be returning to the Saints soon. Is he right? The Saints are desperate for some safety depth, even if that safety isn't good anymore. We won't find out until after the Saints get back from Oakland though.

That's all for the preview! You'll have to make the jump to see the rest.

Looking forward to Darren Sharper's return! Who dat!!!

The close of training camp already, huh? This preseason I have more questions than ever before, even during the Billy Joe years. Okay, maybe I should have had more questions then. But this is Payton and The Mick. Questions are bad. The only thing I’m confident in right now is our running backs—I know what to expect from ’em. And our punter.

Can’t wait for the season to start!

Chip Vaughn (ex of the Saints, now of the Colts)

just got two straight penalties to keep a Packer Drive alive in red zone, and the Pack just tied the score with 35 seconds left – d’oh!!!

Thumbs up, everybody...

Sharpers swagger is deeply missed

Even if he is in a rotation, his presence alone will get a spark out of the defense.

I am scared to see the Oakland game

If they do good then awesome, but if they do bad, especially Brees…..

Oakland has a good defense

I’m still hopeful. Believe!!

They lost Nnamdi.

Though their front 4 (I think they run a 4-3) scares me.

Bring back Aaron Brooks! He's the only one who can save us from the evil that is Drew Brees!!

If the Saints play really poorly in this one,

I’ll finally start to get a little worried. As mentioned above, they just now this week finally installed the complete offense. Everyone heard about how the lockout may have affected football, but it’s hearing things like that (offensive packages not being fully installed until the 3rd preseason game) that really bring this shortened off season into perspective. May still be a little sloppy thanks to only having one week practicing the full offense (not to mention the folks that will be sitting with injuries), but I think we’ll see a better team than we did in the Texans game, and if our offensive line can come together a little bit, I think it’ll be fun watching the starters go.

I heart GW!

Sharper is better than Oliver any day, bring him in

The base paths belonged to me, the runner. The rules gave me the right. I always went into a bag full speed, feet first. I had sharp spikes on my shoes. If the baseman stood where he had no business to be and got hurt, that was his fault. -Ty Cobb

A humbled Sharper with something to prove is actually pretty appealing.
