Saints @ Raiders: Gameday Fleur-De-Links

The Saints and Raiders line it up tonight in the main event of Sunday Night Football on NBC.

For your pre-game enjoyment, I have collected the day's links, tweets, and videos, and guess what? I posted them after the jump.

Dave's got the Open Thread ready to go up 30 minutes before kickoff, so let's use this as our pre-pre-game open thread. How y'all doin' while getting ready for the game? How are you feeling about things?

Vote in the poll, too. I borrowed the question from Ralph's Podcast (but left Kevin's rage behind)...

miketripletttp Any issues, questions with my projected 53-man #Saints roster? Let me hear 'em: tinyurl.com/3z8n9nf

miketripletttp I've seen a lot of folks disagreeing with keeping two FBs. That's a tough call, but I definitely expect a total of 5 TEs/FBs in some combo.

miketripletttp  In other words, don't expect the #Saints to keep just 3 TEs and 1 FB to bulk up elsewhere ...

miketripletttp Also, some disagreeing with Mitch King as a fifth DT. As I said in the article, that would be temporary if Franklin, Johnson are still hurt.

miketripletttp  Joe Morgan, Nate Bussey were the two toughest cuts, but I do think#Saints could get both of them back on practice squad.

miketripletttp A lot of comments that Nate Bussey is valuable on special teams. I think #Saints like FB Korey Hall even better on special teams for now.

miketripletttp  RT @shelbywmccarty: why not cobbs over bell and taylor ... Very tough call. Actually had Cobbs first then changed it. Bell has higher upside

miketripletttp Wouldn't be surprised at all if Cobbs earns roster spot, though, especially since he's a standout special teams player.

miketripletttp  RT @bobsaints1: was wondering if theyd cut henderson & keep morgan or arrington? ... They clearly value Henderson.

miketripletttp  #Saints would've cut Henderson earlier if they needed cap space, but they like him. Plus, may need him if Lance Moore's not ready by Wk 1.

miketripletttp  RT @doylejgirouard: Why Humphrey over Lorenzen? ... More experienced/seasoned. They like Lorenzen though so I wouldn't be shocked.

miketripletttp  RT @TheFFAddict: what NO RB gets most carries Wk1? ... I could see something like Thomas 13, Ingram 12. But more TD chances for Ingram.

HeathEvans "@AlbertBreer: Hard to believe It's now game wk for major college football programs across the country. I'm just glad I finally get 2 watch!

AlbertBreer  @ @HeathEvans Gotta be a pretty different perspective for you these next few weeks ...

Jeff Duncan on the Oakland Coliseum: “This place is a dump.” View from the pressbox. Check out those field level seats at 6 o’clock low. Must be the visitors’ side. Not on my list of stadiums to visit.

It's amazing how a stadium is built for two sports

and fails to function at either, takes some architectural genius to pull that one off

For better or worse

After tonight, we’ll be that much closer to games that actually count. After watching the Patriots take a beating, and Tom Brady looking like he was playing us back in 2009, makes me feel a little better. The Falcons took a beating last night as well. We didn’t play well last week, but we’re not the only team that is struggling so far this preseason. At the end of the day. the preseason doesn’t count. How many preseason games did we win in 2009? I don’t remember. I’m just rambling on here.

I hope I can come out of this game feeling very optimistic

I was over the top optimistic 2009 and even 2010. 2009 was warranted. I think 2010 I was in denial about if we were able to overcome the injuries. This year, I am concerned. O-Line, pass rush, defensive backfield depth. Other than that we are a Super Bowl team. I think the O-line could come together, but not by week 1 vs Green Bay. The defensive secondary (esp safeties) will be fine if there are no injuries (aren’t there always injuries?) . Maybe (MAYBE) getting sharper would help – or if Oliver steps up. Pass rush- to me that can cure a lot of shortcomings, but I don’t see us having a great pass rush without a great pass rusher. We did it (to some degree) in 2009, but it seems to me that almost every team that has a great pass rush has at least one great pass rusher. Who is ours? I think in 2009 I wasn’t concerned becauuse absolutely every other phas was in line and our pass rush was adequate. Contrary to others, I liked our LBs that year and they got the job done. This year, we will see.
