Vick
I really can’t see how they justify such a huge paycheck to a guy who admitted to slacking on his old team – right after he got his last paycheck.
Just go through the history of other players (mainly QBs) who have gotten $100M+ contracts and you can see that the return on the investment has been sorely lacking for the most part. I don’t expect this one to be any different.

Brees never had a $100M+ contract, so I’m referring to Vick.

But he might be getting one soon. Hence the confusion. Oh, I see, no confusion because Drew BREEESSS!! will never provide a sorely lacking return on investment. Got it.

Bring back Aaron Brooks! He's the only one who can save us from the evil that is Drew Brees!!
I’ve never made a comment regarding your assertion of the decline of Brees, so it isn’t like you need to turn your guns on me to defend your position. Until I see the contract, I can’t comment, but I will say that the Saints have at least gotten 5+ good years out of Brees while the Eagles haven’t even gotten a full season of Vick to justify this contract.
by BlackandGold4ever on Sep 1, 2011 11:26 AM CDT up reply actions
the Eagles haven’t even gotten a full season of Vick to justify this contract.
He took them to the playoffs. 3000 yds, 21 TD’s. 676 yds rushing, 9 rushing TD’s. Apparently they thought it was justified.
Deal me another hand Lord, this one's very hard
Of course they thought so…they offered him the contract. I’m just saying one season wouldn’t be enough for me to do so. Especially with how Vick struggled against the blitz at the end of last season. I’m expecting that teams will have picked up on that and prepare for him a bit differently this season.
by BlackandGold4ever on Sep 1, 2011 2:36 PM CDT up reply actions
No way he plays out that entire 6 year contract.
He’s 31 now, so he would be 37 when the contract is up. Does anybody really think that Mike Vick will play until he reaches Favre territory? I know I don’t, and I doubt Philly would give him that kind of contract if they thought they would have to pay all of it either.

Not worried
but I don’t ever recall Brees being intercepted so often in TC/practice before this year. His Oakland game has reassured many of us, I assume, with respect to his prodigious accuracy and ability to shepherd long drives for TDs, so hopefully this turnover phenomenon is just the result of a familiarity of the defensive players with the plays run by the offense.
Oh God don't say you're reassured
Apprarently it means you believe Brees is the 2nd coming of Christ.

Really DeMario really?
I hope someone is SMART enough to let him play right end!
Does DeMario Pressley really have room to question our coaching staff? I guess he is suggesting we were stupid for letting him go also. This comes from a guy who has 15 career tackles…..in 4 years? Please DeMario let us here more insightful knowledge. Don’t hold out on us.

Demario was salty when he got cut but he didn't produce either
I do agree that Brown played out of his natural position but he knew he was going to be a LE when he signed. No other team was interested in him as a RE either so it was either LE with us for a good salary or rotation for the minimum. And as I saw on another site that said he just got cut again anyway so he’s just projecting.

Vick is a great runner, he's an excellent thrower.
I’m not convinced he’s a great/elite QB. This year will determine that. I don’t really like him. And I also don’t think he’s smart enough to be a consistent pocket QB that reads defenses like the elite QBs do. I think now that defenses have film on him and willgame plan for him he will not be real effective.

Wow!!! At the news of @alexbrown96. Man was BEASTING at NEW position!!!
For those wondering, that new position was on his knees praying not to get cut. As for right DE, he sucked. He’s neither the run stuffing DE you’d expect from a RDE or the pass rushing DE you’d expect from a DE his size (who’d normally play LDE). Just saying he did nothing that can’t be done for cheaper.

I didn’t think much of that headline until I opened it and saw the picture of Scott Shanle missing a tackle. Now I think its a little racist.

Pretty sure that's incidental.
Even if it wasn’t, our defense is definitely more chocolate than vanilla…..
I honestly think Vicks contract is more about helping
him pay off his creditors than giving him $100mil because the think he’s elite. According to what I heard on the news about it if he makes $10mil or over a year his creditors automatically get 40% of it. I think its less, maybe 15%-20%, if its anything under $10mil a year. The creditors said it should be paid off entirely within 4-5yrs with the contract he just recieved. His contract i think is for 6yrs. So i think its just the Eagles trying to help him out.
I don’t think he’s a $100mil QB in terms of production just like I didn’t think he was in ATL. But the fact is no matter where he plays, because of the exciting way he plays he’s going to sell tickets and merchandise, which is worth it in an owners eyes.

Why would Phili care about Vicks credit score? Are they afraid if Vick doesn’t pay his debt, on time, that he will go back to jail? I think Phili paid Vick what they thought he was worth. I dont agree with it, but I’m not the one paying him a 100 million buckaroos.
