you know

there’s an article about this on bleacherreport right now. a very detailed article. backs up all necessary claims. my name’s david l;akdsjfalksglashd (that’s norwegian for alphabet soup) and i left a hefty comment that you can read, backing his claims up even further. the author even states that the saints had the BETTER offseason, which of course i agree with. the author also states he’s NOT a saints fan so there’s no bias.

yet…i browse epsn under the nfc south and of 15 articles, not a single ONE is about the saints, yet the majority is about the falcons and more specifically dimitroff. i read si’s peter king’s monday morning qb and what do i find? more dimitroff. i read nfl.com and what do i find? more falcons and dimitroff. i’m all for the “flying under the radar” theme, but at what point do people actually start giving us credit(thanks lombardi you’re one of the few)? we obviously did well in 09 when “under the radar” so why should i even be complaining…

maybe i’m just selfish. maybe i am, as a saints fan, just feeling a little neglected right now. and maybe i’m ready to shove that neglect down every team/analyst’s throat…starting in lambeau…

i know we’re going to have a good season. i feel it. 2009 was the first time in my whole life (28 years of saints fan ups and downs) i’ve EVER put money on the saints…and i put it on them to win the superbowl while still in training camp. i have that feeling again, and while “dynasty” may not be the best word for it right now, positive things are imminent for our club. i just want some talking heads to acknowledge that…so again…maybe i’m just selfish…

either way, whodat to the masses. we’re gonna do big things.

The article posted is about how we were one of the best two teams in the whole league in terms of offseason aquisitions. Here’s a direct quote:

with these new additions on defense, I am starting to like the Saints’ chances of being the best in the NFC.

That “under the radar” “no love” stuff is complete BS.

Nola5712 – when you review the NFC South on ESPN in the pre-season, the articles written by Pat Y are generally based around which training camp he is visiting at the time. Yes there are exceptions when there are major stories. However, trust me, when Pat comes to town the majority of the articles will be Saint-centric.

thanks

for pointing out what i guess i was naive to realize. seems like it’d be obvious knowledge now that you’ve said it. but again, that’s just yasinkas. maybe i’m just sick of hearing about the sky chickens’ greatness

yea i do

on occasion. there are some good, knowledgeable writers on their midst the trashyness. i understand the premise of bleacherreport; having fans write columns is not always a great idea, but even here, that method can prove valuable.

I think he’s saying he blocked you on the ground that you read BR.

completely disagree

like i said. after browsing all these nfl sites, do i find much of anything about the saints?? nope. just because there’s ONE smart author//analyst out there doesn’t mean anything. not to mention i already said THANKS LOMBARDI. i’m well aware of what the man said, i don’t need a pop up book.

Here's a little-known secret about the sports media

They really only cover the higher market teams (ex: NFC East, AFC East, Steelers, etc.). I like that the Saints don’t get as much attention and most sports writers still like to think we’re the “Aints.” Most people in the media are very lazy and just like to echo what their colleagues write and say.

For example, I watched a small amount of Mike & Mike in the Morning today (not sure why, must’ve been in a self-torturing mood) and all three people on set listed the Saints as one of five teams that wouldn’t make it back to the playoffs this year. I just laughed. Once Darren Woodson listed his five (including the Saints), guest host Stephen A. Smith and Mike Greenberg basically just agreed. They haven’t researched this to any degree and sports predictions like this are pretty much useless anyway. So, I find them more funny than anything.

What NFL sites do you read, specifically?

by Jay Preece on Aug 8, 2011 1:35 PM CDT up reply actions

anything

and everything i can find. nfl.com usually is behind the curve. pft is really up to date even though i don’t like florio. profootballfocus is good too (and to THEIR credit, they do talk about the magnitude of the saints offseason moves). si.com, espn.com…again, anything and everything. sorry if i started an argument over this, i’m just A: hungry for saints anything, and B: feeling no love for the black and gold

Don’t apologise, man. I’m not arguing, I just don’t agree with you. Ha.

I think there’s more than enough news to read about the Saints every single day. I read CSC and various links that Jon or Hans posts, and if I’m not working I’ll check news on the main SBN page, Rotoworld, National Football Post and maybe some ESPN headlines. Some major news outlets not covering the team in great detail doesn’t equate to flying under the radar or getting no love. We’re not an annoying obscure indie band. The New Orleans Shabazz Palaces.

Here in Los Angeles

It’s hard to get wind of anythings Saints related. The only problem I have with the Saints getting “no love” is there aren’t as many videos and things to watch. LA is more consumed with the possibility of getting their own team these days, so if I even get a whisper of Saints talk out here… I get super excited.

I’m moving out to Buffalo next month where the Bills are the focus of the state’s religion so I’m sure Saints news will be thin at best. Luckily, CSC feeds my need.

I was told to be careful since the fans there are fanatics. I’ll have to tread lightly before taking my Saints lunch box into work…

Buffalo fans are drunks but a pretty good crowd. Verbal abuse but no violence, not even thrown beers. We did get the silent stink eye in the hotel elevator and breakfast room, though. They’re proud of the Bills and the team should be better this year.

Good luck with the move. It’ll be a bit of a culture shock if you’re not from western New York. (They don’t put hamburger on their pizzas. At all.)

Thanks

Born and raised in So. Cal… so I’m a little anxious about the winter. I guess this means a lot more watching football next to a fire.

I hope next year, the Saints come closer so I can go try and watch a game.

Holy crap, man. Do you know what you’re getting into? I spent a long weekend there and I think I saw two African-Americans. At the game, I saw 2 more (not counting players). It’s very working class blue collar, kind of worn out but trying to keep it together. Maybe you can find a good neighborhood to land in. I hope, good luck.

Yeah... I'm a bit worried but...

Hopefully I can adjust to the weather. I’m not in the city so I don’t think it will be as bad…..HOPEFULLY

You're in luck

The Saints will play the NFC East division next year. I’ll bet we have to travel to NY to play the Giants.
