I think before we move too far away from Thursday night's game, I have to give a nod to New Orleans wide receiver Marques Colston. I know he fumbled on the Saints' first series, leading to a short field and an easy second touchdown for the Packers. But late in the fourth quarter, with the Saints down eight and driving to try to tie it up with no timeouts left in the last minute, he did something pretty brave, and smart.
Drew Brees threw him a 23-yard post, and Colston made a diving catch with 31 seconds left. The dive fractured his collarbone. If he lay on the turf with, say, 27 seconds left, the officials would have called for an automatic 10-second runoff because the Saints had no timeouts left. Then the Saints ran to the line, Colston knowing his collarbone was broken, and he lined up because there wasn't time to get off the field, and Brees threw a short pass to Darren Sproles, and then Colston had to get back to the line again for Brees to spike the ball. Tick, tick, tick. Finally, with three seconds left, Colston was able to get off the field. Now he's out for at least a month. Those are the kinds of sequences you remember about a player. At least I will.

Colston is a class act
in the way he handles himself. Even with a broken bone, he was more concerned about the team than himself. Although he will be back (and will be sorely missed during his recovery), I will long remember Colston for being a great receiver and a class act.
I hadn't even thought about that
I knew he broke his collarbone, and I thought it probably happened on that play, but I never realized that he never came off the field. Colston is great in that he could be just as good as a guy like Plaxico Burress (before he got arrested) or better on another team. Instead, he bought into our system, is a key cog in our offense, and never EVER complains
Peyton, I can eat Oreos faster than you!!!!
I don't want to take anything away from this, because Colston is amazing but...
Then the Saints ran to the line, Colston knowing his collarbone was broken
Did he really know it was broken immediately? Sounds like Peter King is being a bit dramatic.

Agreed
That’s his MO. I noticed when Colston injured it and saw he stayed in the game. That led me to believe that maybe it wasn’t that serious of a fracture. Certainly not as serious as Tony Romo’s collarbone fracture last season that broke in multiple places and landed him on IR. That’s why I’m hopeful he’ll be back in four weeks.
Not taking anything away from Colston in this reply. Dude earned my utmost respect years ago. I loves me some Quiet Storm.

Dude sucks.
We need a new #1 WR because this dude sucks so much. A real player would of torn off his arm and beat Woodson with it.
Canal Street Chronicles-A place of great Saints news and information. Oh and the stuff I write!
Bring back Aaron Brooks! He's the only one who can save us from the evil that is Drew Brees!!
LMAO!

I was watching the game with my cousin who played football from pop warner
to his senior year in high school (shredded his knee in the 3rd to final game of his senior year…with college scouts watching…heartbreaking). He broken his collar bone before and as soon a Colston dove, caught the pass and was headed for impact with the ground (before he even hit the ground really) he yelled ‘OH S*&^!!! HIS COLLAR BONE!! He said he could tell by the angle where he was gonna hit on the ground after he caught it that he was gonna at least fracture it. I didn’t really get was he was sying cuz I was just happy he snagged the pass but when the showed it in slow mo after Drew spiked the ball you could see he was grabbing at it as he ran back to the line.
" I’ve never done drugs but I think watching Matty Ice stare blankly towards the field as Drew Brees kneels down while clock hits zero in a playoff game would be like doing cocaine off a strippers @$$#….yeah that good.

Colston I believe was in on the Pass Interference play/call on Sproiles
Colston made a couple nice grabs, but that was money, laying out for the catch, that injured him.
