Stat of the Week
Noted New Orleans defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has to be polishing up his drawing board this morning, figuring out what to draw on it. In the Saints' last two games, the defense has been awful. Against one struggling offensive team (Seattle, in the playoffs last year) and one superior one (Green Bay, on Thursday), here's how the Saints' defense fared in eight quarters combined:
Defensive points allowed: 76
Touchdowns allowed: 10
QB line: 49-of-70 (.700), 7 TD, 1 Int., 122.6 rating
Yards allowed: 814

Yup. At least we play this next game on turf. If our guys are slipping around and out of position playing on THAT surface, it’s time to string somebody up by their toenails. Maybe some of the players. Maybe GW. Maybe both.
Damn right!
If God wanted us to play on real grass he would have . . . . .
(uh, never mind.)

…if that were the case, then we should play all games on/under water cause there’s more water than grass. ;-)

If you took everything out of the water how much water would be left?

But then the Dolphins would always win.
That would make me angry.

I would agree with everything in the above quotation if anyone other than Peter King had written it.

Did you read the KSK breakdown yesterday?
I swear, BDD gets better and better.

Relax everyone.
Kat is just polishing up her stand up routine:

Makes more sense now, right?

Did you start being a fan in 2010?
Did you not see 2009?

She saw it. She is as welcome to her opinion as anyone else. Just cus we dont like it doesn’t make it wrong.

thanks sweetness ;)
now that I’ve been outed as a GW hater, I suppose Dave will be showing me the door…maybe my Payton love makes up for my GW hate..?

I recognize his contribution to the 2009 season. I’ve just never been crazy about him and I’m even less thrilled with him now. Just one girl’s opinion :)

I’d agree with you….except considering the lack of talent we have on defense in certain important positions…I give him the benefit of the doubt. When you’re dealing with pass rushing scrubs and non-existent OLBs….what can you do? Until we can actually find people capable of consistently rushing the passer and OLBs capable of tackling and making plays that aren’t 5 yards down field….no new DC will make a difference.

That’s what I meant by “personnel decisions”.

would be interesting to test that, just sayin’. I know popular opinion is that GW rocks. I just don’t share that opinion…and I can see the lynch mob forming now ;)

ok..
what don’t you like about him? (If you want to open that can of worms)

I appreciate you asking...
but based on how popular he is I’ll pass on opening that can of worms :)

I admit I’m not a terrible fan either. Mostly because everyone touts him as some kind of second coming….when really our defense, even when people say is playing well, has never seemed to ever be close to consistent. We play well against great teams…we play down to bad teams…etc, etc.
"Winter is coming"
He’s hardly seen as a god on here. You’re exaggerating our respect of finally having a fairly decent DC for once at will to suit your own needs.
trapped in grammar and calendars.
I’m not exaggerating in the least. You apparently aren’t bothering to read all the posts that show up on here about him. “Everyone” obviously is the wrong word. But trust me…well over half the people on here seem to idolize the man and we’ve had plenty of good defensive coordinators over the years. Much more so than offensive.
"Winter is coming"
Who do you suggest could get more out of our pretty average defensive roster?
trapped in grammar and calendars.
Maybe Mike Pettine (Jets). Yes he works under a defensive-minded HC which helps, but I’d be curious to see what he could do. I’m just not a GW fan.
by snowboard_kat on Sep 15, 2011 5:45 AM CDT up reply actions
I’ll give him a call right after I call Pettine. DC is the more pressing need ;)

...so, let me get this straight...
…mister coffee nerd, the guy that gave the Saints a preseason power ranking of 24th prior to the 2009 season, is implying that the Seahawks and Packers offenses are of equal quality? Someone get Pete a latte, he’s feeling dizzy from trying to think again.
This is the offense that rolled up the #1 defense in the NFL in the SB. Did he expect the Saints D to do better? Yeah, GW has some work to do, but we all need to regain some perspective here – the Saints D wasn’t embarrassed by a 7-9 team last Thursday night, they were out played by the SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS in their home opener. And didja notice the were still IN the game right up to the last play? Yeah, losing sucks, and after the sting and stink of the team’s last playoff loss, seeing less than stellar performance from the Saints D isn’t fun. But again perspective, folks – fire GW? We’re DOOMED? Hardly. Now if we end up 0-3 in a couple.weeks, we can push the panic button, but until then let’s all just calm the eff down and watch our guys win some games.

maybe instead of booing someone when he/she says something we don't agree with
we can say something like…
“Wow, that’s interesting that you would say that. I believe GW’s doing a great job, because of x, y, and z. What are your reasons for saying that? I’d sure like to better understand you.” (where x, y, and z are your own reasons for believing what you believe.)
