Be careful, Drew
Wait til you see the Verizon commercials I shot with @Jay_Glazer for Verizon this summer. Hilarious! He’s pretty funny for a short, bald guy
Some might be referring to you as a short, bald guy in a few years.

I thought he was poking some fun at himself with that.
Since uh, the roof is starting to crumble on him.
Canal Street Chronicles-A place of great Saints news and information. Oh and the stuff I write!
Bring back Aaron Brooks! He's the only one who can save us from the evil that is Drew Brees!!
I think you’re right. In his case the roof is peeling back.

Just because we have chiseled abs and stunning features, it doesn't mean that we too can't not die in a freak gasoline fight accident.

They are looking for someone to cut or put on IR to make room for Will.

"I've been big ever since I was little." - William "The Refrigerator" Perry
i have noticed the word "balance" being used a lot by the fans.. mostly negatively.. as if the saints do not have any..
1st.
i’d like to know who has been drilling so many peoples heads about the “balance”?
as a simple example of the current stage of pro football.. and without looking at specific stats.. just the eyeball test.. of the last few SB winners.. the predominance of the passing game is really noticeable.. not a true power running team other than the steelers have won.. and they won it with their QB’s arm..
I pasted below a portion of the game stats.. 1st number is chi.. 2nd is NO.
notice the pass attempts against run attempts on the saints stats.. man.. that looks like 56-44 percentage (pass against run) or so..
(probably spells doom for SB aspirations.. but hey.. would make a lot of people happy, apparently..)
Total Plays 63 67
Total Yards 246 382
Passing 186 264
Comp-Att
19-45 26-37
Yards per pass
4.1 7.1
Rushing 60 118
Rushing Attempts
12 29
Yards per rush
5.0 4.1
Red Zone (Made-Att) 1-1 2-4
Penalties 6-47 7-41
Turnovers 1 1
Fumbles lost
1 1
Interceptions thrown
0 0
Defensive / Special Teams TDs 0 0
Possession 23:46 36:14
CP you out there?
Someones spoiling for a fight.

simple observations.. bring the rebuttal..
the teams that have the leading rushers are not even contenders, except baltimore.. and they will not win a SB with that QB.. most power running/run first/heavy rushing percentage teams are not even play off teams.. KC, TN.. other traditionally running teams are going away from the run game..
the threat of a running game & sufficient rushing attempts obviously help the passing game..
is nice, also to have an effective short yardage run game.. to convert those 3rd & short..
but that’s as far as i goes.. there is no mathematical pre-established balance that guarantees any correlation to winning..

that was 10 years ago.. game has changed since then..
there won’t be other dilfers unless the opposing QB is injured.. or some strange circumstance.. it is not impossible.. it’s just not likely..
if you were a GM: in one hand: “well let’s get us very average game-managing QB..” and in the other hand: “let’s get us a play making sonofagun..” which one would do you want..?
the flacco reasoning when they drafted him has become obsolete.. they thought you can win consistently of play action & a big ball every now and again.. just does not work that good.. if you notice they are actually trying to expand his offense.. but he is still due to jump to the next tier of QBs.. younger guys like the detroit or st louis QBs have passed him..
would bet you a dollar.. but i’d hate to take your money..

Depends on the other needs on the team, and also the philosophy/style of the coaches. Look at the Jets – two AFC championship appearances in two years with a run first mentality. And who beat them? The Steelers and Colts. One power running team and one passing team. And in the Jets/Colts game, the Colts had > 100 yards rushing, while the Jets had a measly 86. That’s not a coincidence. Also in that 2009/2010 postseason, the Jets beat the Chargers, and the Ravens beat the Patriots. And of course, that was the year the Saints had the most effective rushing game they’ve ever had in the Payton era.
Obviously, the rules and philosophy of the NFL have consistently moved towards a passing game, but being able to run the ball effectively is still very important.
I dont think he’s met CP yet.

I'll save CP the trouble
[Insert team from the mid 70s] consistently made the playoffs with very close to a 50/50 run/pass split . This one example proves the point that today, a 50/50 run/pass split would win you a Superbowl if only there was an NFL coach smart enough to do it.
Did I capture the spirit of a CP comment?
"I want to hand this trophy to the MVP of the Super Bowl -- and the MVP of the entire league.''
-- Saints coach Sean Payton, handing the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Drew Brees after Super Bowl 44.
Darn, forgot to add something about time of possession
I knew I was forgetting a key part of the equation.

Too bad someone has to go.....
After the way the Saints played Sun, you’d hate to see someone get cut BUT Will Smith will be a much needed sigh of relief for the team and the Fans. SOMEBODY has to slow/stop the Texans run game & I hope Will is up to it.
I hate to say it but I if anyone has to go, I think Hartley might be it
I just don’t think anyone deserves to be dropped from the roster right now. With Kasay knocking down 50+ yard field goals…..I think Hartley is the odd man out and IR is in his near future.
