NFL suspends Vikings' Kevin Williams for first two games | ProFootballTalk
Will Smith isn't mentioned, but rest assured he will get the same suspension. At least they lowered it from four games to two. Who will replace him vs. the Packers and Bears?
Update: Will Smith officially suspended by the league for the first two games.

I can deal with 2 games
I think we can hold down the fort with a rotation until Big Will’s return

Stupid
Still think the players should have just taken the suspension back when it happened. Saints weren’t going anywhere that year. Now we lose a player as we start a fresh season.
Do suspended players count against roster spots? Could help with the kicker situation if not.
pretty sure it's like they're on IR/Pup list for those games
and doesn’t count towards the 53 man roster
Now that we have a 2011 season let's win the Superbowl!

Wouldn’t it have been the Super Bowl year?
They allegedly took them in 2008, but the suspension was supposed to be the start of the next season. Right?

Is There Any Wonder Blogs Struggle to be Taken Seriously!!
Never let the facts get in the way of being the first to post — sounds like the mainstream media. When did it all go wrong???
Logically — your headline works. A report with credibility it is not. You may very well wind up being correct but to post that as fact is way “off-base” and reflects poorly for someone authorized to post on the main board!!
No where has anyone confirmed Will Smith has received a 2 game suspension and all you did was take someone else’s report and twist it — unfortunate.
Someone will be along shortly with a response. I’m staying away from this one.

The absolute only reason Will Smith hasn’t served his suspension yet is because Kevin Williams kept fighting the suspension in Minnesota court. Goodell said so last year for not suspending Smith then. That obstacle is no longer there. In the Starcaps case, as Williams goes Smith will go. There’s no way Goodell and the league are going to let Will off the hook now. No. Way.
Since this has offended you so very much, I’ll change it. Have a nice day.

Let's ask the mainstream nola media what their opinion is on being taken seriously.
“The Saints don’t draft running backs in the first round.”
“Reggie Bush is untradeable.”
“Reggie wants to be a Saint in 2011.”
Clearly, they have the market down pat.

Regardless...
David was right, Will Smith is suspended two games. It was a pretty simple deduction. In fact, I’d say it was a pretty astute move by Satch and CSC was quick to have the information for Saints fans. But what the hell do I know…I just run a blog. Nobody should take us seriously.

But I have to admit he has a point. Shouldn’t have changed the title before it was confirmed, no matter how certain I was at the time.

The NFL announced Friday that Saints defensive end Will Smith will be suspended for two games and fined four game checks for a banned substance case that dates back to 2008. The suspension will be for the first two games and thus Smith is out for the Saints – and the league’s – season opener this Thursday at Green Bay.
So, Will will be forced to play two games without getting paid for them? Something seems wrong with that. I know he makes a lot of money and all, but how will playing two games for free affect his motivation?

For anyone upset that I may have earlier "twisted" the meaning of the original PFT article
Here’s the statement from the NFL: “Will Smith of the New Orleans Saints has been suspended without pay for the team’s first two games of the 2011 regular season and fined an additional two games checks for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances. Smith’s suspension begins on Saturday, September 3. He will be eligible to return to the Saints’ active roster on Monday, September 19 following the team’s September 18 game against the Chicago Bears.”
Please excuse me for drawing a conclusion, no matter how certain it was, before it was officially confirmed.

He should have just beat the **** out of Goodell a couple of months ago or at the very least pistil whipped him. After all, the NFL wouldn’t be able to do anything to him due to the lock-out. I guess we’ll just serve a suspension for something that occured over two years ago while players who did things much worse get a free pass for something two months ago.

Out of the 27 players the Saints must cut, they’ve started with
1. Trumaine McBride
2. Paul Oliver

wasn't Pat Williams suppoosed to be suspended too?
they should all sue the NFL and Goodell. Get some lawyers that just want to bust balls with the NFL and get their names out there and tie the NFL up in court for a decade with a lawsuit.
If Pro is the opposite of Con, what is the opposite of Progress? Congress!

Pat Williams is not currently with a team
He hasn’t retired, but he might as well, because it’s unlikely anyone’s going to sign him at his age (38).
INTERESTING...
So, it;‘s not just Dave C’s FanShots that don’t show up in the FanShot area.
But, I thought I;ve seen some by Satch in the FS area before.
I wonder what’s different.
And, I wish they would show up in both places.
