Will Smith Suspended, Trumaine McBride Cut

There are a couple of Saints roster moves to announce this afternoon.

First and foremost, Will Smith has been suspended for the first two games of the 2011 regular season, finally putting an end to all this StarCaps nonsense from two years ago. The NFL released a statement this afternoon:

"Will Smith of the New Orleans Saints has been suspended without pay for the team's first two games of the 2011 regular season and fined an additional two games checks for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances. Smith's suspension begins on Saturday, September 3. He will be eligible to return to the Saints' active roster on Monday, September 19 following the team's September 18 game against the Chicago Bears."

Also, the Saints appear to have gotten an early start on their final roster cuts today, releasing cornerback Trumaine McBride. This news is being assumed because of a tweet from McBride saying:

It was fun while it lasted N.O.!!
