Saints Sign Eight Players to Practice Squad
The New Orleans Saints have signed eight players to their practice squad after clearing waivers this morning. They are LB Nate Bussey, QB Sean Canfield, TE Michael Higgins, CB Terrail Lambert, DT Swanson Miller, LS Kyle Nelson, C Cecil Newton and WR Andy Tanner.
Can't say I'm surprised by any of these names. Glad they were able to hold on to Nate Bussey after a good training camp performance. I was slightly surprised to see him cut in the first place, to be honest with you. The same goes for Swanson Miller, but to a lesser extent. And it appears Sean Canfield will be spending yet another year on the Saints practice squad this season, learning from Drew Brees.
What do you think?

Glad they kept Canfield
Those were passable numbers, in spite of the bad overall night

anyone wants to join a fantasy league on yahoo, the id is 730064. Yahoo made publishing era, and draft is today at 2pm. Its an 8 team league with big big rosters, big scores. I had to make league much bigger than 8 teams to publish because of glitch.
Glitch is if you invited last years teams to join, no one else can join unless they are removed. Yet yahoo won’t list last years teams for removal to open up slots for new comers, so I had to make amount of teams bigger. oNce it gets to 8 teams, I will lock it up.
If you can’t make the 2pm, I have two more leagues with drafts at 4pm and 6pm. You can join all 3 if you wish. the other id #’s are 730102 and 730132.
I hate trying to get Saints fans to join, because my sleeper Saints like Graham and Ingram tend to get scooped up quickly, lol. Anyways, thanks to any and all who join.

Okay…(whew)…I thought we were all doomed. It’s turns out to be just another shameless, over-indulgent, self-promotion of a completely pointless and useless recreational activity with no socially redeeming value whatsoever.
That’s fine….I can live with that.

Sentinels
is that an X-Men God Loves, Man Kills reference?

No, it’s a Matrix reference, staying consistent with my first comment. I don’t read comics or graphic novels (haven’t for 30 years) so I had to look up the title you mentioned. Since it was published almost 30 years ago it’s probably a good read.
Is it worth a look?

definitely worth a look if you like apocalyptic literature and such

Hmmmm
I just took a peek at a preview of a few pages on some site and the apocalyptic theme seems to serve as only a backdrop for a much broader storyline. It seems to cover a variety of social issues including religion and basic human intolerance along with a little early 80’s politics thrown in for good measure.
It looks like something I would’ve read back then. I’m kinda sorry I missed it.

I really need to get back into them
I haven’t really picked one up in several years. Although I have a huge collection. Guess its time to pull em out the closet and see how much some of them are worth now.

It’s been so long for me that I could never pick up the habit again. That’s why I said that I’m sorry I missed it. A few pages on that preview site just to get a feel for the book is all I can manage these days.
I gave up reading fiction with storylines that served as a metaphor for current social issues a couple of years before the book was published (with a few exceptions here and there that were simply too good to pass up).
By then, I just couldn’t sit on the sidelines anymore with my protest signs, written replies in the LTE sections of newspapers & magazines, and verbal commentary on public radio. I decided to take a genuine hands-on approach with issues that I believed and didn’t have much interest in social commentary anymore.

I'm a fan of Miller and Bussey
But Canfield… I’m not so sure. The guy has not shown me anything that would make me consider he could even be an effective backup in the NFL. Consistently late on his throws, a bit reckless at times, and a conservative passer (most of his completions seemed to go to RBs), I just don’t see much of anything in him. Maybe I’m just being too hard?

Where's Patrick Ramsey?
Like you, I don’t think much of Canfield – and he had a lot of time during the last game to show us what he had.
I’m semi-joking about Ramsey. He’s probably not going to play another down in the NFL, but he was outstanding at Tulane. I always pulled for him, and hated the fact that The Ole Ball Coach ruined him – making him stand up and throw all day behind that horrible offensive line in Washington.

Oh well.....
Canfield?………………………… Elated about Swanson Miller and I also think they should’ve picked Montez Billings over Tanner.
Agreed about Billings
I really liked that guy. Tanner, not so much.
