Saints @ Packers: Game Predictions

Everyone's favorite Canal Street Chronicles pre-game tradition is back for it's fourth straight season!

Normally we'd be doing this on Friday afternoon but since the Saints kick off everything this Thursday, we've got to get an early start as well. Most of you guys probably already know how this works but for all of our newcomers, I'll review the rules again. So listen up and listen good.

Star-divide

Each week before a Saints game, everyone makes three (3) predictions about that game. They can be any predictions you want. You can guess that Drew Brees will throw for over 400 yards or you can guess that Sedrick Ellis will be fined by the league for excessive Pee-Wee Herman dancing following a five sack performance. It doesn't matter. Put your three predictions in the body of your comment, NOT the subject heading.

I know what you're thinking. You'll just guess silly things you can't possibly get incorrect like, "Someone will get tackled" or "After the game, there will be a winner and a loser." If you wan't to do that, be my guest, but I'm pretty sure you will be heavily ridiculed. You're call.

It's also become tradition to make a score prediction as well. That's a freebie you get and it doesn't count against your regular three predictions. A good score prediction can only help you, not hurt you. Please type your score guess as the subject heading of your comment. If you need an example of how all of this works, check out the prediction thread from an old Saints game against the Lions.

That about covers it. So without further ado, I leave it to you guys. Can't wait to hear them. Good luck and Who Dat!?

Packers 34 - Saints 28

1. Ingram scores a TD in a first regular season game.
2. Saints make GB one dimension and hold them to under 85 rushing yards as a team.
3. Doesn’t matter that they’re one dimensional as Rodgers throws for 300+ yards and 3+ TDs.

PT will lead the Saints in rushing yards.
Brees will pass for less than 275 yards.
Kasay misses a FG less than 38 yards.
21-17 Saints beat the Packers on road.

That wasn’t as easy as it seems.

Saints 28, Packers 19

1 Drew BREES!!! has zero interceptions.
2 Pierre Thomas has more touches than Mark Ingram
3 Old Man Kasay makes all PAT attempts, but misses at least one FG.

It will be obvious that Mike McCarthy has been out on the rubber chicken circuit as he displays his new giant coaching pants. At first, no one will recognize a clean shaven Aaron Rodgers. There will be some type of new headgear worn by the cheese head fans. The Wonder Years’ dad will show up in his Lombardi persona, but no one buys it and everyone thinks about little Fred Savage wearing his Jets jacket. It will be apparent that it’s probably time for Al Michaels to retire and Collinsworth will turn off yet another generation of football fans. The female onfield reporter will be wearing leggings. Some of the pregame music on NBC, if you compare it to 1993’s “Informer” by Snow, will prove that popular music has not progressed at all in the last 28 years.

Some will rob you with a six gun, some with a fountain pen.

I think people are underestimating the difficulties associated with going to a lefty…although I expect that these guys should have it worked out in time for the game. They had less than a week before the last game.

I agree...

I was extremely surprised when they brought in a lefty so late in the pre-season.

It’s very different holding for a lefty, especially if the holder is right handed.
