Skip Bayless
is a no-talent hack. He’s called the Cobra, because when he bites people, they die!

That act is so old...
Espn needs to come up with new material.

Speaking of Skip Bayless…
I noticed something interesting the other day.
Does anyone know what the show used to be called – before it was called “ESPN First Take”?
-
pre-reply (to the person who gets it right): Coincidence???

Yeah, I grew up with one about 3 blocks away.
(I lived 2 miles from the very first one.)

You realize showing me such things while I’m stuck in Montana is considered cruel and unusual punishment right?
"Winter is coming"
Sorry, Bro. Try this...
Popeye’s Fried Chicken
Ingredients:
3 cups Self-rising flour
1 cup Cornstarch
3 tbl. Seasoned salt
2 tbl. Paprika
1 teas. Baking soda
1 pk. Italian Salad Dressing Mix Powder
1 pk. Onion Soup Mix — (1 1/2 Ounces)
1 pk. Spaghetti sauce mix — (1/2 Ounce)
3 tbl. Sugar
3 cups Corn flakes — crushed
2 Eggs — well beaten
1/4 cup Cold water
4 lb. Chicken — cut upCombine first 9 ingredients in large bowl. Put the cornflakes into another bowl. Put eggs and water in a 3rd bowl. Put enough corn oil into a heavy roomy skillet to fill it 1" deep. Get it HOT!
Grease a 9×12×2 baking pan. Set it aside.
Preheat oven to 350F. Dip chicken pieces 1 piece at a time as follows:
1-Into dry coating mix.
2-Into egg and water mix.
3-Into corn flakes.
4-Briskly but briefly back into dry mix.
5-Drop into hot oil, skin-side-down and brown 3 to 4 minutes on medium high. Turn and brown other side of each piece.
Don’t crowd pieces during frying. Place in prepared pan in single layer, skin-side-up. Seal in foil, on 3 sides only, leaving 1 side loose for steam to escape.
Bake at 350~ for 35-40 minutes removing foil then to test tenderness of chicken. Allow to bake uncovered 5 minutes longer to crisp the coating.
Serves 4.

I highly doubt that is how Popeye’s chicken is made.

no, it's not an exact recipie
it’s a “clone” or close facsimile

I dont even think that’s a clone. Why bake the chicken after you fry it? Truthfully I dont think that is anything like Popeye’s.

fair enough…
I’ll run it by my friend who used to work there. Might take a couple days though, he doesn’t check email often.

Don’t bother with your friend. They take it out of a bag drop it in the oil when the timer beeps they take it out and let it rest for a few minutes. Not many employees have any idea how to make the chicken.

not at the Popeye's I go to
I’ve watched them preparing the chicken for frying, and they definitely apply the batter and coating on site.
my friend worked there 10 years ago...
but has a good memory.
They did stuff mostly by hand.

I fix oven fried chicken all the time
It’s healthier for one thing. However your popeye’s fried chicken recipe is missing at least one critical ingredient. Where is the cayenne pepper,and/or cajun seasoning. And don’t feed me that mild BS. That’s for the tourist.

Well...that sucks.
Canal Street Chronicles-A place of great Saints news and information. Oh and the stuff I write!
Bring back Aaron Brooks! He's the only one who can save us from the evil that is Drew Brees!!
son-of-a
I can’t believe Lance is out. He is the most underrated player on our team. So clutch. Damn.
In Breesus' name we play

Oh well.... Time to focus on those who'll be out there.
Lance is a short shifty speedster with great hands…. Fortunately he’s not the only reciever with great hands. Sometimes “good hands” is all you need and Arrington & Roby has that. Both spent time on the field and knows most of the plays well. EVERYBODY on the team has drops so as long as Brees has time to throw, I feel confident our guys will pull it off. Just gotta keep Matthews & Co out of his face for the most part and D needs to come through like they’re capable of in “big games”.
Has anyone seen the Packers' SB Nation site?
Kinda weak for SB champs. They must have another website bc I know their fan base to be pretty aggressive/strong fans who would really get into this stuff. I mean, they go to games in the worst cold!

During game threads
Pack fans are there, believe me they’re just as loyal as Saints fans! I’m looking forward to tonight’s game, two classy organizations and no Patriots or Steelers hooray!

Who's getting Popeye's or having something very NOLA for dinner tonight?
I’m making Jambayala, and might get some Popeye’s tenders as a side dish.

Just finished my game day Gumbo.
Now I gotta take a nap so I can get up to watch the game before I have to go to work at midnight.

I’m having Budweiser for dinner tonight. That’s as NOLA as it gets, baby. I may even show up for my first game thread tonight.

Not quite
If your are going truly NOLA then you have to go with their very own brewery.
I still remember 25 cents Dixie drafts in college.
