We use to have bags on our heads....

Now we have to use those bags to carry all of our records with us. It was a great “regular” season. None of that crap carries over. We made the big dance. Everyone is 0-0. The only thing that matters is the next game. We have to believe in our boys and make the dome the loudest home field advantage possible against the Lions. This is our time. We have the team with the ability to… FINISH STRONG!

by BASAINT on Jan 1, 2012 11:45 PM CST reply actions

Everyone is 0-0 FINISH STRONG!

Perfectly said! It was a great regular season. Everyone starts over. This is where it all matters. The good news? We’ve been there before. And I want to repeat that process again in the post season, starting with the lions. One game at a time! Finish Strong and STAY HUNGRY!!

I spent 8 years trying to reach him...and then another 7 trying to keep him locked up because I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply...Evil.

After what Matt Flynn, without Jennings and with a backup OL, did to their D today?

No, I can’t agree. They will be a tough game. But of all the teams to truly fear, the Pack and SF are clearly above the Lions, primarily because either of them would have to be away games.

Now we’ll still have to bring our A+ game… but we do pretty good at that in primetime games… and we do that pretty good on NBC games… and we do that pretty good in the Dome. We bring our A+ game and we have about a 95% of winning. I’d even give us a 55% chance with only a B+ game. So long as we don’t overlook them, we should be able to win this first one.

Now we might lose, but even if we do, they STILL won’t actually “scare” me, and definitely not MORE than SF/GB. I’ll just be pissed, not scared.

by FriarBob on Jan 2, 2012 12:46 AM CST up reply actions

Well...

Packers are banged up on key positions and I’d be very comfortable going into a shootout against them. Yes, even with Roman Harper as my SS (Pro Bowl, HA!). Since Green Bay allows a lot of sacks, Harper would probably have a shot convincing me he is worth that ridiculous 7M/year contract and make a huge contribution by at least pressing Rodgers…Of course, if the temperature is below 15 degrees, none of what I wrote his valid cause I think we’d get our a** handed over on a plateau.

As for the Niners, I’m not sure the easy schedule they had gave them enough opportunities to help them learn how to win big games, especially on that kind of prime time stage. I’m a firm believer that knowing how to win is a very long learning process and one winning season isn’t enough to know how to win out.. Besides, depending on the health of my favorite NFL LB (Mr. Willis, I bow before you). I don’t think they can stop our offense. And if our hability to score early is really back on track, Smith isn’t the one who could lead them to victory if he has to air it out. He does have very average stats, as the QB he is…

Which brings me back to the Lions…Great offense, stout front four, and a chip on there shoulders. I could bet Calvin Johnson is still pis**d about that last year TD he was denied (Dallas?) and that Stafford is eager to show what he can do in the playoffs after finallly playing a whole season. And from what I saw this year, the kid IS elite. And don’t underestimate how much redemption Suh could get from that game….

My hopes for winning this game is that the Mercedes-Benz Dome crowd will have as much as an impact as we did that NFC championship night where we clearly made a difference on at least five of the Vikes snaps that turned into our favor….

So I beg you guys who are lucky enough to attend that game: Noise! And than some more! And if someone is willing to sell a good seating ticket under 300 bucks, I’ll gladly go back to the Dome and waiste my vocal cords once again…Hey, I may even teach yo how to swear in Fench!

Repeat? Run it!

if the temperature is below 15 degrees….I think we get our a** handed over on a plateau.

Number of games the Saints have played in 15 degree or lower temperature this year: 0

Number of games the Packers have played in 15 degree or lower temperature this year: 0

Lambeau Field no doubt provides an excellent home field advantage, but no more so than a lot of other stadiums. I think the weather factor is sometimes over emphasized from the standpoint that it gives a team from the north some sort of incredible advantage over a team from a warmer climate or who play in a dome. As long as rain, sleet or a blizzard isn’t a factor, most football players prefer a game in the cold more than a game in sweltering heat. If bad weather on top of the cold does come into play, I think it puts both teams at somewhat of an equal disadvantage.

Don’t forget – Bress had a successful college career playing outdoors at Purdue. Cold weather alone will not be nearly as big of a deal as Packer fans want to believe it is.

Also,

Saints Rushing Offense: 6th Overall, 4.9 YPC, 132.9 yards/game
Packers Rushing Offense: 27th Overall, 3.9 YPC, 97.4 yards/game

If you can’t run the ball in cold weather, what can you do? No, I’m not too worried about a rematch in the tundra.

And I’m trying to stay very focused and humble. Optimistic yes. But I know and feel this will be one tough game. I don’t think everyone realizes the Lions are better than most people think. Don’t overlook them

If we continue to have the fire going in, then no worries. Finish Strong Baby!

There’s always that fear in the back of our minds. But remember this. We are a much better team than the previous 2010 season. Especially on the offense. It’s unstoppable.

the degree of playoff experience..

the true understanding of the moment.. will make a decisive difference in this game..
this detroit team has had a good season but has a little of cinderella in them..
the saints can really press a team like this into mistakes..
they do have quite a talented passing game.. but they haven’t really seen the best saints game yet..
and i expect the best game out of the saints..

Williams needs to settle down our Defense.

The only thing I’ve been seeing that is keeping opponents close are the big gaps in the secondary. Really have to get a grip on those personal foul penalties, don’t get me wrong I love the aggression ( The attitude that no one comes into OUR house and shoves us around ) but the only thing that will keep a drive alive when we have them pinned deep.

You know Hartman, goodie-two-shoes is fidgeting around like a one-legged cat trying to bury s#!t on a frozen pond, until old Seth fixes him a couple of pink poontang specials. You know, that crazy drink that I fix for stewardesses? Two shots out of that and Hartman is shot to s#!t, freaked out. I mean, I never saw a guy having so much fun and crying at the same time!

Sad to hear that about Ingram

I think we are stronger going with Ivory,PT and Sproles, but I wanted Ingram to be available for the playoffs. Hopeully Moore, Vilma, etal will get healthy. Any info on any other (new) injuries?
