Man...seriously?

I give it up to Grumps and you Dave for going over there. I dropped by and read the thread…I’ve never seen such disrespect on a large scale before. Even the Falcons fans treat us better and with more respect.

We may win, we may lose…but the things they say are so flat out egregious it’s mind boggling.

Me too!

I remember back in 2006 just before the 49ers came to NOLA to play the Saints, I was somewhere and overheard some 9ers fans talking about their upcoming schedule and saying winning against the Saints was going to be very easy. This was of course the year after the 3-13 2005 season and no one thought this rebuilt team with a new coach and QB coming off shoulder surgery were gonna even sniff the playoffs. We clobbered them 34-10.

Not saying the same will definitely happen this Saturday, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. I think Drew and the team are using this MVP snub they’re expecting as extra motivation. Yes, playing the 9ers in San Fran will be a much bigger challenge than if they played them in the Dome. But, all this talk about the Saints playing not playing as well outside and on what might be a slippery surface is getting way overblown. Our guys have heard of cleats and they’ll plan accordingly.

We have

the 4th best road record in the league since Drew and Payton came to Nawlins. We can and do play well on the road.

The base paths belonged to me, the runner. The rules gave me the right. I always went into a bag full speed, feet first. I had sharp spikes on my shoes. If the baseman stood where he had no business to be and got hurt, that was his fault. -Ty Cobb

My original prediction for the game wasw 35-10, but I cowered a bit and said 35-21.

I would agree…except for the times I would intelligently counter stats with other stats. And they would completely disregard it as if it never happened and keep on touting the same 2-3 stats. I tried to talk to them in an upfront manner and debate…but they didn’t want to talk or debate. They only wanted to talk about their 2-3 stats and heaven forbid you tried to counter them because it didn’t fit their “we’re gonna win” paradigm.

LMAO

The fact you think it’s a “lac of respect” when on EVERY thread we’ve talked about how good your offense (and team) is, but you continually say our defense and such is only good because of our crappy division…..that’s mind boggling.

Love how us saying your offense is scary (just not AS scary away from home), and we’ve said it’s gonna be close and down the last possession is seen as disrespect. Apologies we don’t think you’re gonna win by five touchdowns. We should be allowed to have faith in our team, too.

I’ve never said that once, and you very well know that. I love how you seem to think everything I’m talking about revolves around you and you alone…what gives?

I'll admit I haven't spent all week at niners nation...

So I’m mostly referring to the one referenced in this post (which was all I could stomach) but can you please show me all of the quotes stating some semblance of the following?

your offense is scary (just not AS scary away from home)
it’s gonna be close and down the last possession
our defense and such is only good because of our crappy division

Either I missed it or they were buried under an avalanche of “they haven’t played any good defenses” comments.

You could just look at any thread and find quotes for these
your offense is scary (just not AS scary away from home)
it’s gonna be close and down the last possession

Where is this one?

our defense and such is only good because of our crappy division
Well, it’s right here.

by mikeinsp on Jan 13, 2012 7:02 PM CST up reply actions

so we're ignoring the first two?

I’ll grant you that Mtnexile did present some evidence that your defensive stats look a lot better due to the umm, lets say less than stellar division/schedule (he also mentioned that our schedule was easy as well). While I don’t necessarily agree with his statistical analysis that your defense is over-rated, let’s assume that I did. How is that anymore disrespectful than the constant refrain of “Saints haven’t played any good defenses, wait until Patrick Willis violates Jimmy Graham”?

Still waiting for the evidence of all of the warm and fuzzy accolades layed at the feet of the Saints…

by SaintBevo on Jan 13, 2012 8:06 PM CST up reply actions

No, I didn't ignore the first two. I guess you didn't read where I said look at any thread and you'll find it.

Yes, he did give evidence that our defense’s stats were inflated by our division. But it’s incorrect evidence as I proved in that post.

by mikeinsp on Jan 13, 2012 11:50 PM CST up reply actions

and I guess you ignored the part where I said

please show me all of the quotes…

I don’t have the stomach to wade through all of the posts over there to locate this avalanche of respect of which you speak. As I said originally:

Either I missed it or they were buried under an avalanche of "they haven’t played any good defenses" comments

Since it is so prevalent, I would’ve thought it fairly simple for you to provide some. But, if you’d rather use the “Oh, it’s there, trust me” defense go right ahead.

Because it's so easy for you to find it yourself.

I really can’t believe someone is saying 49ers fans don’t think the Saints are good, because they obviously are. Hey look at that, I just provided one for you. smh

by mikeinsp on Jan 14, 2012 11:28 AM CST up reply actions

I don't think I said that 49ers fans think Saints aren't good

What I said was that I wasn’t seeing all of this effusive praise about how scary we were and how it was going down to the last possession. I was mostly seeing comments about how our offense wasn’t going to stand up to your great and we were in for a rude awakening.

The quotes to which you refer obviously aren’t that easy to find because I wasn’t seeing them, at least in that one post. As far as I’m concerned the burden of proof is on you. This conversation is starting to sound like someone saying “I can do a backflip anytime I want” and me saying prove it and that person responding “well, I don’t feel like it right now, but believe me I CAN!”

Again, I say if they’re so prevalent SHOW ME. Otherwise drop it because you have officially made a mountain out of a molehill

OK - I'm done

you won’t answer the question. I get it.

Good luck to all, but mostly the Saints

But I did answer it.
The Saints are obviously really good

You didn’t answer my question, though. So, I get it.

If you really want to believe we don’t think your offense is good then that’s your problem. Just because we’ve said that the Saints aren’t as good on the road than at home(fact) and that they are facing a good defense(fact) doesn’t mean we’re disrespecting your team. We can believe in our team, too.

by mikeinsp on Jan 14, 2012 3:07 PM CST up reply actions

Anyways

I think people are going really overboard with the whole “disrespect” thing. Saints fans think their team will win, and 49ers fans think their team will win.

Are 49ers fans disrespecting the Saints? I don’t see it.

Are Saints fans disrespecting the Niners? Don’t really see that either.

Supposedly

Being a “home dog” is going to make them so mad they’ll just beat the tar out of us.

Well, I suppose stranger things have happened.

by FriarBob on Jan 12, 2012 6:47 PM CST reply actions

I think we need to quit needing them to be scared of us

they went 13-3 and have one of the best defenses in the league. Why can’t they believe they’ll win? And why do some need them to think they won’t?

Having the ball is better than not having the ball. And if you punt,
not only does it mean you don't have the ball anymore—
it means you didn't score, which sucks.

I love how..

they act all hurt that we aren’t respecting them and are underestimating them, then proceed to spend most of the next 350 comments underestimating the Saints.

For the record, I know they’re a good team and expect a close hard-fought game on Saturday. I’m hoping for a gut wrenching and soul killing Montana-esque drive by Brees to steal the game in the 4th. (Well actually I’m hoping that we blow them out, but don’t think its gonna happen).

and they are saying the EXACT same thing about us

Can't speak for anyone else...

but I respect them and think they’re a good team. They seem upset that we might think we can do anything against their D.

i think people on both sides have mistaken confidence for disrespect

I expect you guys to be confident just as I am. We both have really good teams. People are excited and emotions are high. But whatever the outcome, I hope no one gets hurt because the winner needs to be ready to crush the packers

I just find it funny that so many people over there are calling for all the Saints fans to come by and post over there if we lose. I certainly haven’t heard any of them talk about doing the same after they lose.

this is one of those playoff football games that non 9ers and saints fans will remember

i think it will be close, coming down to the last drive…
