Too soon?
Is it too soon to start talking about the draft? Here's a couple questions, also feel free to insert your own:
1. Who would you like to see us take with the 59th (?) pick in the draft?
2. Do you think we'll trade up/down?
3. If the Saints had the number 1 pick in the draft what would you do with it?
It sucks that we don't have a first rounder, I look forward the draft because of it.

I haven't looked enough into the draft yet to fully answer your questions, but here goes.
1. BPA at OLB or DT(less so if we switch to a 3-4)
2. I could see us trading up. Payloo will want a first rounder.
3. Trade it to the highest bidder. We don’t need Andrew Luck, and picking someone else first overall is a waste, with the amount of picks you can get back. Bill Belichek the s*** out of that pick.

1. Last year a lot of mock drafts had us taking Travis Lewis in the 1st round. He stayed an extra year and now there’s an actual chance we could get him in the 2nd. Not a good move for him but it could be a steal for us.
2. I think any kind of trade is possible. Payton probably has his sights on some players and if he can make the deal for them he probably will. If they are gone, he could trade down.
3. Draft Luck, cut Brees. He's clearly in decline
"I want to hand this trophy to the MVP of the Super Bowl -- and the MVP of the entire league.''
-- Saints coach Sean Payton, handing the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Drew Brees after Super Bowl 44.
1. Sean Spence – You can watch some of his highlights here
2. I’d like to see us trade Ellis and/or Bushrod and try to get a good OT and maybe try for Reuben Randle.
3. Trade down – people are saying you could get 2 1’s and 2 2’s for that pick and maybe more. I’m interested to see what St. Louis can get for the second pick because some analysts are saying RG3 is right up there with Luck.

We have so many more holes to fill than OL
Right now, we have a Pro Bowl LT and a RT who is good enough for Brees to set the single season passing record. If we trade anybody, we need to grab an OLB or a DT

1. I’d like to see the Saints draft a player for the front 7. Whitney Mercilus from Illinois looks pretty good if he falls, and he has a great last name. However, IF Nicks is leaves, I’m expecting the Saints to draft a guard or center in the 2nd or 3rd round.
2. I don’t they’ll move off the 2nd round pick unless there is nobody they like.
3. Trade down and use the plethora picks to rebuild the defense.
Been thinking,
comparing what we get out of late picks and UDFAs to what we get out of the early rounders, maybe trade down should be a team slogan.

Plus,
it would leave us salary space for some other teams leftovers. Now where’d I put that San Diego menu, I mean roster….

Have any of y'all seen tape of Chandler Jones?
We might be able to get him in the middle rounds and he looks pretty good…almost like JPP for the Giants.

now.. this mercilus is a guy that spagnola may like..

if he’s still around midway the 2nd, wouldn’t surprise me to see the saints make a move..
we need need some specialists on the defensive line..
this is the kind of player we may target..

Doubtful.
He’s already being touted as a first round pick by some, and a lot of others are saying that he is going to keep rising. He’ll probably go mid to late first

ture.. his stock has been rising.. i've seen him ranked around 20-25..
top 50 talent overall.. so he could be very well gone in the 1st round, since the position is always coveted..
but there are other players of similar mold..
i’m thinking this would be the targeted type of player..

I still see Pierre Thomas possibly getting traded
Leading up to the draft. We are gonna want to move up or get another 2nd rounder.
I drained my heart and burn my soul....I trained the core to stop my growth-MM
I don't see a Pierre trade
We need all the RB’s we have because they get hurt. They don’t get a lot of carries, and yet they get hurt. I know the hit Pierre took would have probably killed me, but we need the corps we have.
Let me say this...
For all the complaints about us not having a 1st round pick, look at it this way. If we had not traded it for Ingram at 28th we would be looking at a 29th or 30ith pick, so what’s the diff, really?

even if you are late in the 1st you can attempt to move up..
a team like the bengals has two 1st round picks.. both under the 20 spot..
something you can try to work with, getting to a position to get a playmaking need..
like we were discussing above with northfan, there are a couple of really special passrushers that probably will be gone mid 1st round.. j j watts/ pierre-paul type of players.. something we think really need..

The point is...
We arguably got just as much, if not more value by using it last year. That being said, I wouldn’t have taken Jordan over Ingram last year, and wouldn’t have traded for Jordan. Last years D draft class was so deep we could have gotten someone in the second round, who could have made as much impact as Jordan this year. The truth will be determined in his second year, we hope. This year we do not need to be trading up, but down for more picks, at any chance we get. Mainly in regards to our cap space limits and FA resigning needs. We have several high salary players we can look at trading for picks to help with the cap. Loomis will at the very least, have to look at restructuring some contracts.

i disagree with the trade down..
i think we need to find one outstanding player.. i been using the metaphor.. we need to find a jimmy graham on defense.. who i remind you, was a 3rd round pick.. intriguing but unproven player..
then sign what we must keep & replace with lower grade FA & late draft picks the rest of the roster..

We got a 3rd or 4th rd pick for a washed up Jamaal Brown…maybe Washington will be willing to give up the same for Smith…

The difference is, instead of 26 picks, we now have to wait 59 picks.

Waiting is not always bad.
You get to see who is gone ahead and better define you options in the latter rounds. We have been good at picking up latter round draft finds and are IMO in for an exciting Draft.

For #3 - I would .......
PICK SOMEONE THAT COULD COVER A RECIEVER FOR 1:58!!!!!!!
IS THAT ASKING FOR TOO MUCH????
Back to my padded cell….. they only let me out for a few minutes anyways,…. why did it have to be the last 4 minutes of that Saints 49er’s game….. proabably added a few years to my sentence…. er diagnosis…..
SP: "No, No, No. I said 'Let's all take it to the Vikes again' not' Let's all take 2 Vicoden!'"
You mean a TE…we have nobody at LB who can do so…
