Forecast: Ready for longest off season ever?
You know how after the Saints won the Super Bowl following the 2009 season the offseason seemed to last 10 minutes? We partied, watched Tracy Porter's interception 5000 times, partied some more, and then the 2010 season started.
The 2011 offseason is going to be the exact opposite. Watching the Packers get trounced by the Giants was the cherry on top of the rancid sundae of a loss to the 49ers. Welcome to the longest off season we've had in Saintsville in a long time. And the most important since Sean Payton and Drew Brees cane to town in 2006.

either nicks or colston will get the franchise tag..
no way we lose either.. i think the saints allow other teams to take a shot a meachum.. i let him walk.. look, perhaps to land a veteran free agent, not necessarily to replace the skill set.. we could have some deep threat potential in the practice squad.. & payton can always find another guy late in the draft..
porter is a different chapter.. what has happened to him..? why does he look slow in reaction..? there are some issues there that will never be disclosed, i suppose..
saints do the best retooling they can on defense.. without much ammo for the draft.. you got to be smart and find a jimmy graham on defense.. just one player..
we can try some help from 2nd or 3rd tier free agents.. the odds of landing a big name are zero..
i believe this defense will rebound with a full off-season.. yes, will be long.. but we can get going..
sadly, the window of opportunity did close a notch or two.. got to make a run now..
if i throw out there that peyton manning’s last shot was the 2009 season.. would anyone agree.? it didn’t seem so final for the colts then.. but looking now.. his shot is all but gone..
looking forward to the malbrough man smoking some thoughts about the draft.. gotta hit a slam.. with a plastic toy bat..
Good article Raplh but the eternal optimist in me thinks...
Porter is done…not a loss…replacement in the wings. Johnny Patrick.
Meach and Dev are gone also IMHO, I said cut Dev last year, and other than the beginning of the season, see no reason to change the Cut that Chump call, I made then. Think we have their replacements waiting in the wings also. Joe Morgan, and with much coaching and working out with Drew, AA. Salary Cap we are in better position that the rest of our division and with some judicial cuts and additions we can stay under or at the cap. Also some trades may be there to be made and acquire Draft picks. While this is a tough off-season to endure, am actually looking forward to the 2012 season, and the changes that are in the works. Of course Ralph you know I’m a homer who sees through Black N Gold glasses.
