NFC South Predictions- Participate!

Hey guys, I'm going to be posting a question like this on all the SB Sites so I can create a giant, fan made, NFL prediction thing.I'm doing it by division so whatever team is in what ever division will get their post accordingly. I'm going to leave a prediction for all the divisions but I'm counting what you guys say. There will be a poll at the bottom and the poll will have every single possible record for your team, please participate and choose what you think. Please also leave a comment saying what you think the division standings will be. Thank you all and please participate, Falcoholic, CSC, Cat Scratch, and Bucs Nation.

Thank you,

Matt

Oh yeah, and the only letter I changed was yours. I really enjoyed this picture who ever made it, thanks for the laughs.

Prediction

Saints 19-0, Super Bowl Champions

Falcons 4-12, entire fanbase committed to Milledgeville

Panthers 0-16, entire fanbase indicted for murder of Cam Newton

Bucs, demoted before season begins to NAIA

What! shall we curse the planets of mishap
That plotted thus our glory's overthrow?

My Predictions

Saints 14-2
Falcan’ts 10-6
Panters 10-6
Bucs 6-10

Cam Newton has another tremendous year splitting wins with the Saints and beats out the fowl clowns for the wild card.
Matt Ryan starts strong, but fizzles out in a wild card tie breaker with the Panthers
Bucs, well I’ll just leave it at that.

by Saintsfan75 on Jan 21, 2012 2:13 AM CST reply actions

Saints 12-4
Panthers 10-6
Bucs 7-9
Falcons 6-10

12-4 due to a ridiculously tough schedule.
Panthers improve on already solid foundation
Buc improve under new headcoach
Falcons dredge the bottom where they belong, just like their fanbase.

I'd rather not wait until I'm dead to figure out how to live.

Ridiculously tough schedule?

The only tough game out of our division will be @Green Bay. We have a fairly soft schedule, we get the NFC East and the AFC West, as well as @GB and home to SF (Revenge game, in the dome. No way we lose there). We play @Den, @NYG, @DAL and @OAK as well, and those should be some fairly easy games. WAS, PHI, SD and KC are all in the dome, and I don’t see us losing any of those.

Depends on when we play Denver and the Giants. As you can tell by this year, the Giants are a tough team to beat, and I hope they beat the p*** out of the 9ers. I see us loosing to the panthers and the G-Men. Unless we play the pack in December, baby its cold outside.

by Saintsfan75 on Jan 21, 2012 8:57 AM CST up reply actions

NY can be quite mild in November & December

can’t be any colder then Landover MD when we played them & won!

Everyone of those teams either made the playoffs or just missed em, sans like two.

I think you’ve been seeing double digit wins too often by our team that you don’t realize 7-9 and 8-8 are very capable teams.

I remember a 7-9 team that made us look incredibly foolish in the playoffs.

I'd rather not wait until I'm dead to figure out how to live.

by hooahsaint2.0 on Jan 22, 2012 10:35 AM CST up reply actions

Philly, Washington, Dallas and NYG are all teams we SHOULD beat. The AFC West is THE WORST division in football. We play San Fran in the dome, and GB away. And then there’s our division. I still say 14-2 shouldn’t be a problem, 1 division loss, plus a loss @GB.

I'm sorry.

That’s a “homer” prediction.

Our two best regular seasons of all time yielded only 13 wins. I don’t see us doing as well as far as the standings are concerned.

Teams are going to be spending a lot more time preparing for the Saints, which could make the offense sluggish as was the case after our Superbowl win.

I think overall, the defense will improve and we’ll be a better team at the onset of postseason than we were this year. With a new DC and a year removed from destroying teams, some payback is expected. We’re going to drop a couple games.

I'd rather not wait until I'm dead to figure out how to live.

by hooahsaint2.0 on Jan 23, 2012 12:18 AM CST up reply actions

Yeah we will drop a couple of games

and that will be it. It is a little bit of homerism, but I figure that is the only way we can improve next year over this year. By having more wins than ever. We already own a cubic butt load of offensive records already. With a revamped D, I am hoping that it will take care of some of the problems we have had in our closer games last season.

by Alex Swift on Jan 23, 2012 7:15 AM CST up reply actions

I stand by 12-4.

I see us dropping one of the NFC East games (either Dallas or Giants), one in the division, i see us losing in Lambeau again, and I reserve one loss for devil’s advocate purposes (See the Rams game this year). If you want me to outright guess the teams, I say Giants, Pack, Panthers, and Oakland (Yes, Oakland).

This is the NFL. You have to be on your game every week. No team goes an entire football season, to include postseason, without having a bad week (Rams or 49ers games come to mind). Going 13-3 is an accomplishment. 14-2 is unbelieveable. You’re conceivably talking about only losing one game here and then another at the end of the season when you rest starters.

I’ll be happy with whatever record it takes to secure homefield advantage throughout the playoffs and content with making the playoffs in general.

I'd rather not wait until I'm dead to figure out how to live.

by hooahsaint2.0 on Jan 23, 2012 7:31 AM CST up reply actions

Fair enough.

To be honest, I don’t think Oakland is bad enough for us to lose to. If we do lose to someone in the AFC West, I think it’ll be the Chiefs. I also don’t think we will overlook anyone in the NFC East. However, I do think we go 11-0 in the dome, setting a new record (because we haven’t set enough of those) for most home wins in one season.

I gather you meant you don't think Oakland is good enough.

I have to disagree. Carson got thrown into the mix with zero preparation. He’s got some great weapons to throw to and an awesome ground game. Give him an offseason with that team, and they will be a force. I’ve always felt they were a good quarterback away from a Superbowl run.

I'd rather not wait until I'm dead to figure out how to live.

by hooahsaint2.0 on Jan 23, 2012 9:25 AM CST up reply actions

No, I meant bad enough.

There’s two kinds of teams we lose to- Green Bay, and teams that we should blow out. Oakland doesn’t fall under either of those categories.

Thanks for noting that.

It can’t be my imagination but it seems the “the schedule” has been deemed a challenging one, ooo, scary…for the last two or three years. I don’t see it. It is challenging and not soft but no scarier than other years.

Saints 0-13-3
Falcons 0-13-3
Panthers 0-13-3
Bucs 0-13-3

All divisional games end in a tie. Saints win division based on 6th tiebreaker (strength of schedule) i.e., their 1st place finish in 2011. They become the first winless team to ever qualify for the post season in any sport, before inexplicably winning 4 games and the Super Bowl. Roger Goodell admits that the current NFL alignment is inherently flawed and the league at long last adopts a round robin scheduling system with no interconference play and no playoffs, simply a championship game between the two conference teams with the best overall record.

Wouldn’t the record actually be 0-10-6 for all four teams if that scenario were to somehow take place?

by Drunkamania on Jan 21, 2012 8:44 AM CST up reply actions

It would be. I had them all at 3-13, each splitting W/Ls, before realizing they could tie. You’re right, it would also decrease the loss totals by three each.

It is possible, but not likely next year. In order for this to happen, there are two potential routes:

Version #1
1) We would have to send three of our four teams to the playoffs.
2) We have to repeat as division champs, but be no better than #3 seed.
3) The division team we don’t play on wild-card would have to win the next week as well, upsetting the #1 seed.
4) We’d have to upset the #2 seed on the road.
5) We’d have to win the NFCCG at home against a division rival that just won two road playoff games.

Possible? Yeah. But not likely.

Slightly more likely (but still unlikely) is Option #2:
1) We would have to send three of our four teams to the playoffs.
2) We have to repeat as division champs, plus make at least the #2 seed.
3) Both other division teams have to win on wild-card weekend.
4) We then have to defeat whomever comes to visit us in the divisional round.
5) We’d then have to win the NFCCG at home against a division rival that just won two road playoff games.

If you really think that a Foulclown team that hasn’t won a playoff game in about 6 years and has lost three in a row including one at home, a Bumpkineer team that has talent but hasn’t done squat in the playoffs for about 8 years now and at least presently still has not found the disciplinarian coach they desperately need to whip them into shape, and/or a Punkther team that is still at present all offense and no defense are going to send two of those teams as the wild-card teams despite rather difficult schedules for each team AND despite easy schedules for the NFC North AND despite improvements to the #2 and #3 teams in both the NFC West and East AND win a total of three playoff games, all on the road, yet despite the way they’ve all apparently made MASSIVE improvement to their teams we’re still better than all three… wow, you have a lot of faith in our division. And presumably Spags as well.

by FriarBob on Jan 25, 2012 8:57 AM CST up reply actions

We are only bringing in SD to evaluate talent to take for next year

OK, why not. I’ll throw my completely unprovable ideas out there, be totally wrong (of course) but at least I can have some fun. All these are assuming four things: 1) Spags makes our defense better overall, 2) Carolina finds some healthy defensive talent, 3) Atlanta improves its OL and RB situation but doesn’t make either fully “elite” in a single season, 4) Tampa finds a disciplinarian head coach who can get his idiots to behave and play up to their talent level.

Saints 12-4 (loss @Car, @TB, @GB, vs. WAS). Yes if our defense does improve I think we’ll be able to handle NYG.
Carolina 10-6 (loss @NO, @ATL, @TB, vs. NYG, @Chi, @SD)
Atlanta 10-6 (loss vs NO, @NO, @CAR, @TB, vs. NYG, @SD) 2-4 division record drops them to third in division.
Tampa 9-7 (loss @NO, @CAR, @ATL, @NYG, vs. SD, vs. Phi, @Dal)

Our game vs. Washington is our brain fart of the year, a putrid team shows up and we overlook them. Might sub in @Den or @Oak for this instead, though I think both teams will be decent enough we wouldn’t overlook them.

Atlanta loses out on playoffs via tiebreaker. Carolina either is 6th seed or also misses. Saints are #2 or #3 seed but this time San Fran is #3 or #4 (due to us kicking their butt in the Dome during the regular season) or maybe doesn’t make it at all (if Arizona/Seattle can improve enough) and if we face them at all we get some revenge in the playoffs as well.

We are the only division in the league with all four teams having winning records, yet send a max of two teams to the playoffs because of weak schedules for the NFC-N and improvement from DAL/PHI in the East.

by FriarBob on Jan 24, 2012 2:44 PM CST reply actions

Tiebreaker for ATL would probably be division record vs Carolina, by the way. Or both teams would miss out because of some 11-5 (or 10-6 but with 2 AFC losses meaning only 4 NFC losses) wild-card teams.

by FriarBob on Jan 24, 2012 2:47 PM CST up reply actions

Here goes...

1. Saints 14-2
2. Falcons 11-5
3. Panthers 10-6
4. Bucs 6-10

Brees breaks Unitas’ record for consecutive games with a TD and finally wins the MVP as he throws 40+ TDs and 10 or less INTs.

I look for Atlanta to collapse.

They have too many me players and not enough team players. After so many terrible loses in the playoffs, I think the me will start looking to get out of Atlanta. I think the Panthers are on the right track for a change. I don’t know about Tampa’s head coaching hire. I look for them to start extremely slow. I am also unsure of the Saints defense. I don’t know what it will do, but it can’t be worse than what I saw in San Fran. I still say a certain defensive coordinator sabotaged a team he knew he was leaving to get even with a head coach he didn’t like. My prediction:

At the midway point:
Saints 6 – 2
Panthers 4 – 4
Atlanta 4 – 4
Bucs 2 – 6

Final Standings:
Saints 12 – 4
Panthers 9 – 7
Falcons 6 – 10
Bucs 6 – 10

from a reporter covering the playoff game for the Charlotte area and he said the Falcon locker room was full of blame. Many players and coaches were blaming each other for their failure in the playoffs. He reported that players, who wanted to be anonymous said that some of the players are only looking out for their stats and not the team. Two players in particular, say that Matty Ice is the biggest culprit. And one went on to say that some players believe that Matty Ice breaks down in big games, because he is afraid of failure. I really think doubt has crept into their pysche.
