Below are my final Saints special teams player grades for the regular season, ranked highest to lowest. My Special Teams MVP for the 2011 season is Thomas Morstead (for the 3rd straight season). Any surprises?
Thomas Morstead 3.48 (16 games graded)
Korey Hall 3.22 (3 games)
John Kasay 3.17 (16 games)
Courtney Roby 2.81 (7 games)
Jonathon Amaya 2.47 (5 games)

Voted Morstead 1st because...
While Sproles got his yards for the record, we would have been in better position on opening drives if he had just taken a knee in the end-zone for the most part.

These three guys were awesome this year.
But wow, the tackling could have been better. Why can’t we be good in all phases of the game? Also, Roby basically cost us the game this weekend…like, I’d rather be nervous and gearing up to hate on the giants at the dome rather than watching this game in candlestick, complete with police posing as giants fans to help security.
All three did a good job.
Even with his distance limitationns, I felt a lot better with Kasay kicking for us than when I used to close my eyes everytime FPK went out on the field.
If Morstead could kick field goals, it would be like having another Morten Andersen.
And, Mr. Sproles – Welcome to the Saint’s family.
Missed seeing Morstead make those TD-saving tackles this year.
Guess the coverage team got a lot better tackling the run-backers.
